Do any SEC teams still have an "active" Scout recruiting site? I know gamecockanthem.com has been dead for years. This news doesn't look good for their whole business. Right now, if there's a problem with their site/platform there's nobody there to fix it.
Looks like this stemmed from unpaid wages, expense report issues, general financial instability.

There appear to be some bizarre things going on with Scout Media Inc. and its network of sports websites (particularly recruiting-focused ones, but they’ve expanded into other areas as well). Awful Announcing has obtained a letter the Scout board sent to Scout publishers Sunday night, saying that they’d terminated the employment of chairman Jim Heckman for cause and alleging that he had “advanced his own personal interests at the expense of the company’s” and “abused his access to and control of company funds.
quote:
This is hotly disputed, though. Heckman followed it with this mass-emailed response to publishers:
Everyone: This is 100% untrue, pure fraud. You will receive a detailed account, including documents about this horrible event, this morning. The headline is this: every co-founder and the entire product and engineering team resigned in protest last night. You’ll soon learn why. Please don’t forward or leak anything from the letter you received until you read and understand the real story. I’ll be available to all of you, all day, and look forward to connecting with my long-time partners and friends.
Thank you for your support.

The entire product and engineering team does indeed appear to have resigned. Here’s the first page of a mass-emailed letter Awful Announcing received from them, blaming Russian investors, saying the accusations against Heckman are false and that he was trying to negotiate on their behalf with the board over late paychecks and unrealized equity, and that the board then fired Heckman and changed the locks on the Seattle engineering office:

Scout probably has the best UF recruiting writer with actual sources within the program.

TIL: some people still used scout

Scout seems to still produce quality videos of recruiting interviews. Other than that, I don't really use them. Very odd course of events there though...

I didn't know people still use Rivals

The Arkansas Scout site broke away a couple of weeks ago. I imagine this had something to do with it.

Rivals sucks too unless you are a Bama fan.

From what I've heard and continue to hear, the Rivals SC site is excellent.
For SC Sports, 247 is still king, but Rivals is really strong.

The Rivals Arkansas staff is drastically better than the 247 Arkansas staff but 247 as a whole is my preference.

That's fair. The staff makes all the difference. I know guys who left Rivals when Tony Morrell came to 247. 247 lost Wes Mitchell a couple year ago, who I thought was excellent, however, John Whittle has really stepped up. Plus 247 has JC Shurburtt who's well respected in the entire industry. They also just added former SC Basketball stud Carey Rich last week, and he's networked up for SC basketball coverage.

Not sure why that comment would hurt your feelings, but I'm glad it did.

I will agree with this. I hear him talk on a local talk radio station Tuesday and Friday every week. He does a good job reporting everything in the league without being a total homer. I wish Auburn had someone that good I could listen to weekly.

Well he's about to get a lot more calls and emails from Rivals and 247 than he was before

At one time the LSU scout site was the best place to get basketball and baseball recruiting news for LSU. Then they changed it all up and made it suck but they wouldn't shut down my subscription. I cancelled the card it was on, so I shouldn't have to worry about that again.

Otis, Danny, and Trey are all a joke. Richard Davenport is a little better. HI joining Wholehogsports is a good combo. Richard's "articles" were starting to struggle some.

Russians are pouring in money into investments all over the world. A lot of them are purely intended as a means of money laundering.

The Ole Miss Scout site is very active, what with Yancy dropping truth bombs and getting assistant HS coaches fired even from vacation
