The dodgers are paying for Melvin's College. Isn't that a form of getting paid?

I BELIEVE that is a release clause or something added that if Ray left they would pay

I assume it could be seen that way sure

Not going to qualify. Sign and place for whoever lands him, according to my sources. Considering MLB as an alternative.

Again, talking out of your arse.

Kyle Parker's $1.4 million richer, still Clemson's starting QB

I will try to make myself more clear and be less "declaratory" (BIG word, Scrabble winner) in future statements

You can, man. That is exactly what Alford did when he was the starting QB at Southern Miss for that one year. Signed for $700K, reported to minor league camp and played in a few games, then when classes started he went to Southern Miss and assumed the life of a regular scholarship FB player. Its what he's been doing these past ~2 years.

The logic behind it is that these kids are still amateur football players. Once they sign a baseball contract they are technically professional baseball players and thus lose their eligibility to play collegiate (amateur) baseball, but they can still play another sport. This has nothing to do with the SEC or anything as this is an NCAA rule. Anthony Alford is most certainly a member of the Ole Miss football team and he is also most certainly still a professional baseball player. He will report again to the Blue Jays for a weeks once the minor league season kicks off again, then he will leave and go back to Ole Miss.

Or just admit you were wrong with your earlier assertions and move on. When you find yourself in this big of a hole, it might be a good idea to put down the shovel.

Ok thanks for clarification

So I guess it is a loophole, does he still get paid as a Summer League or Minor League player while he is a D1 scholly student? Didn't think that was possible

And again why don't more athletes take advantage and do this I wonder?

I still don't understand why some people use the @ sign in A&M. I've seen LSU and Arkansas fans do it too.
