I am curious . . . he certainly ran away from competition at OSU but the guy was pretty great in high school at a very young age. He is an ok athlete with a cannon arm and a real knack for the game.

In future news, Hutson Card and Casey Thompson will be entering the transfer portal.
It's another thing to welcome the competition, it's quite another to want to be part of an Applewhite/Simms situation (even though neither were alive when that happened)

The caption doesn’t fit that well. He was going to the state of Texas regardless

If the $4 million rumor is true that’s going to wreck whatever chemistry was left in that locker room. I’d be pissed if I were Bijan.

Only had to pay him $4,000,000 to keep him from Texas Tech! Congrats! (That’s according to Texas insiders and multiple reports.)

So I will admit it is going to be pretty funny to watch Longhorn fans if this doesn't work out for them. The only coping mechanism they had was the fantasy world in which their lily white standards prevented them from climbing down in the muck of SEC. All their failures were due to bags being dropped. Now that they are in panic mode and spewing cash in titanic sums, they don't even have that to fall back on.

You can start by showing how what A&M is doing with their NIL program is remotely the same as offering $4 million for one player.
You may not be old enough to remember the whole Chris Simms/Major Appewhite fiasco. Even after Applewhite emerged as the starter in the 1998 season, Mack Brown promised Simms that he would be the starter to get him to sign with t.u.
During the 1999 season, Applewhite started the majority of games. Simms was given the starting job during the A&M game because Phil Simms pitched a fit and threatened to get Chrissy to transfer. He was pulled late in the game as A&M took the lead and Applewhite fumbled for the game ending turnover.
During the 2001 season, Simms was the starter most of the year. During the Big 12 title game, after Colorado jumped out to a HUGE lead, Brown pulled Simms and put Applewhite in, and they almost came back and won, losing by 2.

What's the difference? You're paying players to come to your school either way. Doesn't matter which avenue is used.

You miss the point completely. A&M's NIL program was designed and implemented before NIL even took hold.
They even put it online for all to see: AMPLIFY

No, I'm not missing any point. Whether players are paid a bunch of money under the table or through NIL, it's all pay for play. Businesses or wealthy alums are footing the bill either way.

You're still missing the point. I guarantee you that no single A&M player is being paid more in NIL than the rest of his teammates COMBINED. Ewers is.

That has nothing to do with my original point. Y'all's fans are trying to act holier than thou in comparison to Texas when y'all are clearly using your financial advantage to attract high level players. It's just a tad hypocritical.

You got the entire dynamic flipped, my friend.

Joe Dirt? He won’t make it past Alabama next year behind that trash OL. Also with a 4M NIL deal Card and Thompson about to transfer. It will be Joe Dirt and a bunch of walk ons
