You think Lanning is going to give up a HC gig at Oregon to become a position coach at A&M?

I have to be misunderstanding you.
And Scumann is going to give up being a co-Dc with Georgia to become a position coach at A&M?
You are speculating that Elijah would become Dc, so....no. Neither is going to take a demotion. You'll just have to trust me on that one.

I hope that is not what he is saying. Lanning was shot down immediately by most of the supposed A&M insiders as too expensive given the financial backdrop.
Lanning was pretty unequivocal about not leaving as well. Not Lincoln Riley/LSU/Bulls$%t unequivocal but "0% Chance I am leaving Eugene for anywhere" unequivocal. If he ever did, it would be for a trophy job with a massive pay bump.

Pretty obvious he’s referring to both as head coach candidates
In the case Schumann were hired as HC, it’s very possible ERob stays on as his DC

After rereading i see that you are correct.

I can't imagine Schumann being ready to be a HC. A7m, with their resources can go for a proven HC. Somebody who is already one. If it were me I would be looking at Elko at Duke, for one. PJ Fleck or Norvell would be backup plans. With the money they have take a run. (Although I can't imagine Norvell leaving FSU right now.

I don't see how you can be significantly more confident in Mike Elko based on a few games as a HC in the ACC than Schumann. If you interview both and Elko clearly is a step ahead there, fine. But hasn't even unpacked his suitcase yet.

Why not? It seems like the trend in the NFL the last few years and it's worked quite often. I'd argue being apart of it under Saban & Kirby is a better experience than doing at a low-level G5 or D2.

Because it is almost impossible to have a winning record at Duke, and Elko is 15-8. No, he isn't a lock but he has head coach experience and Schumann has no track record at all.
(Yes, I am slightly exaggerating on it being almost impossible, but since 2000 Duke has had 17 losing seasons.)
You are correct that he does not have much of a track record but they are headed for their second winning season in a row under Elko, while Schumann has never been a head coach.
Please don't misunderstand me. We (I) love Glenn Schumann. I'm just not sure he is ready to take a on a huge program like A&M. Elko might not either, but A&M as your very first head coaching gig?

Expected? Or we Auburn fans are hoping?
You got a link to anything I can read about it?

See my reply to VolSquatch for my reasoning. I am not saying I am 100% right. It's just my opinion. Out of curiosity. Has A&M ever hired a coach that had no head coaching experience? (I am too lazy to look it up)

And that would be.....? You surely don't expect me to know the history of A&M football, do you?

Bible and Bryant were head coaches first

Laughing at aggy while their house is on fire is all good until I realize their best recruits and transfers are headed to LSU and OU.

When Dennis Allen is announced as coach, he will be able to hold on to most of the recruits.

I'm not sure about A&M recruits. Seem like they'd all be one-and-done risks.
