If you enjoy recruiting insight, the following article is pretty interesting. Sentell sat down with Kenyatta Watson Sr. To discuss Grayson recruiting and what went wrong with UGA/Pappoe.

So that wasn’t what I was expecting. I missed the last half of the story first read - so now UGA fans will Love Kenyatta sr. 12 hours ago they wanted his nuts. This recruiting is a fickle fickle world to be in

Why did UGA not recruit the other 3? Limited spots at those positions?

I find it interesting that UGA turning away a teammate did them in with OP. Another crazy stat, Grayson expects 18 players to sign with Power 5 teams. That a big number

As a UGA fan, I do like KWSr. comment “His gut feeling, instincts and intuition lead him to believe that will eventually be to Georgia.” Who knows. Nonetheless, I enjoy in depth articles such as these. My 247 subscription doesn’t even provide this type of insight.

They recruited Morris up until January 4th according to Sentell. For whatever reason, Pittman started to focus on other kids. I like Morris, long arm, strong, but somewhat limited athletically. Good player.

They recruited Harris, but again, had higher players on the board. He tried committing in the Fall, but Kirby slow played him. I think he’s a situational pass rusher. He’ll excel at Bama.

No interest in Watson Jr. Kirby offered him to get in the good graces, but he was never recruited.

Pappoe, UGA fought hard. Sometimes it doesn’t work out.

IMO, it's a combination of things:

1. Re: Wanya, UGA is likely taking a max of 3 OL this cycle. One interior player and 2 tackle types. I've gotten the sense that Pittman is very high on some national guys and we like our chances there.

2. Re: Harris, its long been known/reported that we didn't let him commit when he wanted to. I don't know the reasoning there, but do know that we brought an epic haul of guys at his position last year, have limited spots for that type this year, and already have Nolan Smith in the fold. Sounds like it was just a tough decision.

3. Re: Watson Jr., we never recruited him with any real intent. He seems like a fine prospect, but his associations likely have led to him being slightly overrated by the ranking services.

4. KWSR comments are interesting and I do believe that he honestly cares about that group of kids. I also think he wants to get his own bread buttered. The two aren't exclusive. I can see Harris' friends being frustrated when we didn't take his commitment, but it's hard to imagine that would be the decisions making incident for OP. I honestly think we just got out recruited there.

I agree that UGA got outrecruited but I don’t think you can dismiss the Harris situation. Especially if it’s true Kirby called KW to see how he could repair the issue. That is an important comment within the article. It sounds like Nolan wasn’t happy with the situation either so that’s something to pay attention to.

I think other factors such as his relationship with Auburn’s LB coach, depth charts and him just wanting to blaze his own path. I hope he does well at Auburn 11 games a season.

I tend to take things like Kirby calling KW to smooth over the Kevin Harris deal with a grain of salt. As I've said, I think KW cares about those kids and their families, but I also think he has some serious self-agrandizing tendencies.

I have a running theory that most of the Grayson kids in this class (OP the exception) are significantly overrated by the recruiting services due in large part to the massive marketing campaign they have all had run for them since middle school. That's my guess as to why Georgia has slow played or not recruited most of them. Our '19 class is limited on spots and we think we can pull more elite guys nationally.

Guess we will find out if I'm right over the next 3-4 years.

I think most people tuned into recruiting would agree. Sentell said as much in his piece, only 1 of the 4 Grayson Four had a commitable offer. That tells you all you need to know.

Who the frick is 'Yall'...the UGA fanbase...the UGA coaches...the media? Nolan is solid to UGA if you are inferring we lose him over this dumb shite...we won't

I don't think I was inferring that at all, I just think your Watson conspiracy theories are a little silly.

But it is interesting that you immediately jumped to Nolan wavering on his commitment.

I am just highly skeptical of people that latch on to promising 17 year olds.

Pretty sure they've been friends since before Pappoe blew up with scholarship offers

I think there's a lot of truth to this. No one wants to be stood up at the alter and with Pappoe seeing it first hand, it probably had an impact on him.

I still think the relationship with Coach Williams and the early playing time is the biggest attraction for him to come to AU.

It wasnt one or the other. It's never that simple. I think the Harris situation and his relationship with T-Will show that OP obviously values trust and loyalty very highly. He personally committed to T-Will 2 months ago and T-Will didnt even tell Gus. I think that shows his relationship with T-Will. that he has the utmost trust inhim. He obviously trusts KW Sr. too.

Good read. Thanks for posting it.

Tho the title is a little clickbait-ish, this is actually a pretty good recruiting insight article too:

Why new Alabama commit [Kevin Harris] says he has ‘a bone to pick’ with Georgia (SEC Country)

It "dovetails" with Jeff Sentell's article.

Can we blame it on Tennessee now that both guys are employed by the Vols?

You may be on to something there. Grayson has some good players, don't get me wrong, and folks are moving into that area to get their kids at the high school and into that program.

However, over the last couple of years, with all that "talent", they are still being matched on the field and in the standings by other GCPS schools - Archer, Mill Creek, North Gwinnett. The hype and ratings for a lot of the players don't always seem to match the results on the field.
