Portal is a great quick fix but it’s not how you build a program and BK knows this. FSU went out and busted the portal and got some key players back but they haven’t recruited well and will be terrible next year with nothing to show

They have one of the best offensive minds in college football at HC and a good DC who is a great recruiter. They also went 10-2 this year with most of their team coming back.

I would think ole Miss has just as much NIL money as LSU since it seems LSUs biggest contributors is a guy slanging chicken fingers and an injury attorney.

Bringing in 70 portal guys in a season is never going to work. But Lane has proven you can have a high level of success by brining in 10-15 transfer guys to round out the weak spots on the roster.

You have to get them to buy in (otherwise you end up like Ole Miss 2 years ago dropping 5 of the last 6), but if you get the right guys and have the right system it does work.

I mean sure, if 9-3 is the goal then yes only getting 1 or 2 is all that’s needed

They are going all in on next year blowing a lot of money, but what does that leave for 2025?
We’ve had the number 2 and number 3 portal classes before this. We will be fine. Y’all’s fear is duly noted though

I think Lane is doing it right. Thing about getting mostly HS kids is most will transfer out before they get PT unless they’re just really talented and start as a freshman or sophomore or they’re the rare player that’s dedicated to the university.

That’s just how the game is today and if the court ruling stands allowing unlimited transfers without having to sit out a year then it’ll just get worse

Yeah, Ole Miss is going all in for the next season. What would you expect? Hoping your team goes all in 5 years from now?

Everyone we got is terrible and the teams that lost them never wanted them in the first place

Gonna be funny to watch Kelly be worse than Orgeron and Miles and LSU fans defend him the next 3-4 years since they can’t fire him due to a ridiculously long contract and buyout

Lame has room for these portal guys because he sucks at recruiting high school prospects.

Lane was one of the first to realize that recruiting a bunch of high schoolers who won’t play for two or three years doesn’t make sense when they can just hit the portal whenever they please. It’s much easier to evaluate guys you’ve seen play at the CFB level and once they transfer in, they can’t transfer out without sitting a year.

High school recruiting still matters, but the coaches who haven’t realized that the game has changed and adapt accordingly are gonna get left in the dust.

Part of me believes kiffin thinks there is going to be regulation on this in the next couple years and some kind of cap will be instituted so why not go all out now? Ole miss wins a natty on the back of transfer players and the NCAA will have regulation on it within a week

Would you want to play on a defense like LSU had last year? I sure wouldn’t

Ummm, we lost 6 starters and every portal take is a significant upgrade over what we lost.

Drinkwitz and Mizzou benefit this. In the past Mizzou wasn't able to recruit 4* and 5* players out of HS and getting players from the transfer portal wasn't any better also.
