Corral and UF was probably a mutual parting of ways. Good for both team and coach.

“It’s not the fact that they went to visit other quarterbacks, but it was the fact that I didn’t get hit up, or a call, three weeks into it,” said Corral. “I know people will say, ‘Oh, they didn’t want you.’ That’s not true. I was going to sign the papers that day, the day they told me I was the guy. So, I got the feeling that I was the guy only because nobody else wanted to be and I was just the backup. It doesn’t really matter to me, but it was about where I genuinely wanted to be and where I was genuinely wanted. I was stuck on the fence. Yeah, coach Mullen could develop me into a quarterback, but if I really want to go where I want to go, I’m going to get there. Not having a certain coach isn’t going to stop me from going where I want to be.”

“I told Florida I’m the guy. Don’t recruit anyone. I said we’re done,” said Corral. “Coach Mullen said ‘We’re done recruiting. You’re out quarterback. You’re our guy.’ Alright, set. I’m thinking about it all night and it just didn’t sit right with me. I just felt like I didn’t make the right decision. I called Florida the day coach Luke came by. They were hitting me up when coach Luke was there, but I wasn’t really responding because he was there. I hit Florida up later that night, but nobody picked up. I don’t know if they felt something was going to happen, but none of them picked up. So, I sent them a text saying thank you for all of this and everything, then I de-committed and committed to Ole miss.”

Just like I said.

This is a very odd sequence of events... It reads an awful lot like Mullen's word isn't good for shite if I'm following. Admittedly, it's conversational speech and doesn't flow super well out of context like this... but if we turn that into simpler versions:

1) Corral was "the guy" by default - no better options... but he was OK with that
2) They agreed that he would be "the guy" and UF wasn't recruiting any other QBs
3) Florida didn't answer his phone calls after clearly continuing to recruit Emory Jones

Not a big deal, but not a huge endorsement for Mullen's "relationship building" skills...

Oh this is fricking beautiful. Mullen pulled this shite all of the time at MSU. He'd get butthurt that one of his commits was accepting a visit from an OM coach and proceed to blow up his phone during the visit. Then after the visit, he just ignores them because he's pissed about it.

He acts like a bitchy female desperate for attention.

This happened about once a year for the last probably 6 years.

This sums up Ole Miss's existence and general attitude.

It was clear that Mullen had Corral on the back burner from day one at UF. Visited Fields and Jones before Corral. At the time I thought it was backfire but Mullen got Jones.

I think Corral is the perfect QB for Ole Miss. His style of play remind me of Chad Kelly or good Bo Wallace. Great arm and can make pass rushers miss.

That's fine and I'm not going to argue against that......but my point still remains.

That would be your new commit being upset because the HC didn't return his calls so he talks to the media.

Mullen didn't call him for 3 weeks, tried to tell your bitchass that Corral was always a just in case boi, but you didn't want to listen.

And that's why Straws is my Ninja

He talks facts sometimes. Not many do at all. It's opinions based on what posters may think the kid will do around here mostly, or regurgitated paysite stuff that's actually amazing to witness sometimes.

Funny stuff

Except Straws never said Corral was a "just in case" QB... he kept claiming that he was the centerpiece of their class... Now it ended up working out ok, but this rewriting history is retarded.

Absolutely did.

Me saying that Mullen never wanted Corral.

quote:

I have no idea what Mullen is/was thinking, but he never wanted Corral, man.

quote:

It doesn't even look, it is. We had this argument on the Gators board a month ago when Mullen went to talk to Fields in person before even making a call to Corral. I'm still upset, because I think Corral would have done well at Florida, and I hope there's a plan (unless MSU fans are right and this is normal) but it was clear from the beginning that Mullen wanted no part in Corral.

What's retarded is that these are actually in this thread.

This only proves it, straight from the Horse's Mouth.

Sorry... I must have misunderstood what you were trying to say... I agree that you said *Mullen* didn't want him. Thought you were saying *you* never wanted him.

Same page now... - I retract my previous objection.

Yeah, man. Sorry if I seemed like I was saying that I never liked him -- I've been trying to avoid that.

I had just been telling Ole Miss fans that Mullen didn't even bother to call him, so the 'flip' was more on the part of Mullen not wanting him than it was because their school was something worthwhile.

All good... we have more fun when we disagree, so not surprised that we got our wires crossed there.

Hell... I am pretty sure somewhere in this thread I've said the same thing to an Ole Miss fan or two... might have been elsewhere. I dunno. Either way, do not disagree...

Boom... found it... LINK

We're expecting another one soon. Always funny how the media portrays them, when so many are indeed the team's decision.

I guess I understand it from tRant perspective because there's always a tsunami of people saying: Never wanted that mook anyway, he's terrible.

So I understand why their first reaction is that. If anyone leaves the Georgia class, it's because they were told to take a hike to make room for another player.
