Heard Mullin went to Kaiir's basketball game last night and Smart is visiting tonight. This one will come down to the wire

Not really. Kirby will keep recruiting, but he isn't going to UGA. Never was.

Considering the fact that based on his history, Warren will be coaching elsewhere next year

Based on his history, Jeremy Pruitt should be leaving Tennessee this year. Maybe you put too much stock in what has happened in the past?

I think it’s safe to say that his relationship with Elam at UF had something to do with it.

Why is it safe to say that? You guys listen to Straws way too much. Should we go down the extensive list of Straws failures? yet you all lap up his "wisdom" like it is gold.

Torrian Gray would’ve been a much better hire for UGA. I’m glad Kirby made it possible for us
Well, time will tell....not history.

I don’t know what you’re talking about, me and straws agree on some things but disagree on a good bit too. We respect each other and each other’s opinions, but I think he’d tell you as well as I that we definitely don’t agree on everything.

Unfortunately for Georgia, time has told. Take a look at Torrian Gray’s resume. Take a look at Charlton Warren’s. There’s a reason when Mullen hired Gray, it was checkmate for Elam. Kirby got outfoxed. It happens. There’s finally competency in Gainesville again.

atlgator’s euphoria over a position coach hire and recruit they may not even get is hilarious

The thread is about the recruit. What are we supposed to talk about in this thread? Euphoric isn’t the word you’re looking for either. More like arrogance. You sound salty.

From my point of view, I think you're vastly overstating the impact that Torrian Gray will have on this particular recruit, and that will still be my point of view if he goes to Florida.

Beyond that, anybody using the example of a HC hiring a position coach away from a peer school as an example of him being outfoxed before anybody coaches a game in their new situation is being a mindless homer.

ETA: Being arrogant (self-described) about a position coach is also hilarious. It's a position coach.

Was there not arrogance from the UGA side (maybe not necessarily you, but in general) about taking Warren from UF to help with Elam? That seemed to be the overwhelming response from Georgia fans.

In the end this is all in fun, and it’s not in either of our hands. I said outfoxed because I think Kirby hired Warren to hurt Florida directly (with Elam and others in the future), and I think based on resumes Mullen hired a better coach/recruiter in response. It’s subjective of course but that’s how I saw it. It’s good for the rivalry going forward because it’s fired up both of our fanbases and makes for a new level of intensity in the game in Jacksonville going forward, imo.

Definitely cringe worthy, but seeing the same kind of crap out of several teams. Especially the stunt involving the parents Mullen recently pulled

If it works, guess it doesn't matter

IDK. There shouldn't have been.

I think a lot more goes into hiring decisions than a single 4* recruit. Many recruits, maybe, but that impact is unknown to anybody on this board.

ETA: Warren basically fit Kirby's past hiring patterns. Young-ish, from the southeast, college guy with a recruiting pedigree.

I have a bad feeling some of our fans are going to have some unfortunate posts that can be bumped in a couple days

You hate to see it

I’m sure y’all will close fine. Interested to see where Nick Cross ends up.

Think Cross might be Penn State bound.

Obviously we would have loved to get Elam (if he ends up at UF) and I'm sure some UF fans will mock us hiring Warren afterwards, but we'll see how that ends up. I thought he was fine this year at UF. Not necessarily $600,000 worth of fine, but a good coach nonetheless. Hopefully he proves his worth over the next couple years.

We saw tremendous progress from true freshman CB Trey Dean (freshman all SEC, if I recall correctly) and there was no regression from Chris Henderson who was great as a freshman and a sophomore.

Behind them two the corners struggled (we also had starter Marco Wilson go down for the year with an ACL). All in all he did a decent job. Nothing special, nothing terrible.
