Curious: what is his classification and will he leave when Young gets to campus?

Mac Jones will be a redshirt junior next year with 2 years of eligibility remaining.

I think he will stay and battle for the starting job next year. Could win it too. If he doesn't win it he could certainly grad transfer to play his final year somewhere he could start in 2021.

The SEC is a tough place for freshmen qb’s and Jones is a semi- proven commodity. Not sure why anybody would think he would bolt.

I'd think Mac is definitely at UA next year UNLESS two things happen:

1. He graduates before the end of the summer of 2020.
2. Tua returns to Tuscaloosa for next year.

Unless both of those happen, I can't see a scenario where Mac isn't on the roster next year.

Yep - agree. The only way Mac transfers is if Tua comes back. If that happened, I'm assuming he'd be a graduate transfer - though I don't know for sure when he graduates.

He was in the same 2017 class as Tua - next year will be his 4th year on campus. So, if he is graduated and left he'd have 2 years to play wherever he went (R-JR, R-SR).

I expect Mac to be at Bama in 2020 and grad transfer out for his final year in 2021. Good kid, and great teammate. Who knows, may even win the job.

Why wouldn’t Jen’s be the starter. Bama won’t go to war with a true freshman as a full time starter.
