(not saying anything about which school he's going to, just a general question on shittyness behind undercutting a kids big announcement, regardless of who the kid is or which school he goes to)
Because people want to be known as "insiders" or they want to placate to their customers on pay sites. Everyone has these people.

This is a great question. Unfortunately, some people value the notoriety given to them for disclosing private information more than their oaths of confidentiality.
Some people just can't keep their damn mouths shut.

So, since everyone will still be freaking out over it, they either believe the leaked info but think there is a chance it can change, or they don't believe the info at all. So why would anyone bother leaking the info if it isn't going to be trusted one way or the other?

But really, these people share their "inside" info to gain credibility for when/if they are proven right. It is leaked because people want to feel more confident, because they want to have an idea of what might happen. Does this really need to be explained?

It will sting if he ultimately chooses Bama, I won't deny that. But in the last couple years, I've had to dial back my intensity when it comes to these type of things. I need LSU football to be one of my releases, if I let it become one of my stressors, I'm doing it wrong.
I'm speaking in more general terms though. I struggle to get why people need the validation of internet strangers to feel good about themselves.

Amen. I was physically ill - throwing up, after Alabama lost on 11/05 (go ahead and laugh). I didn't participate in anything football related online for like 3 weeks, didn't listen to sports radio, watch any sports related tv, and I actually skipped watching the Alabama/MSU game the following week.
I then realized that I was taking this shite too seriously (recruiting included). Oh well. Now I'm all worked up over recruiting and the BCSCG again.

People in high places love to show how awesome they are and the internet gives them a way to do that with less fear of consequences.
