We are around fifth or less in the conference in total NIL. This from people who are giving seven figures to the NIL fund.

1. OREGON DUCKS ($969 MILLION)
2. TEXAS A&M AGGIES ($849 MILLION)
3. TEXAS LONGHORNS ($766 MILLION)
4. FLORIDA GATORS ($763 MILLION)
5. GEORGIA BULLDOGS ($716 MILLION)

He's been in discussion since October lol. He made an official visit to Texas for the game against UGA. Texas boards have been talking about him all week, but everyone said it was a Georgia lean. I have no doubt Texas dropped a bag on him as DL is the position we needed to fill this cycle. What I find funny is that if Georgia outbid Texas, you wouldn't have said anything about a "salary cap".

You can't stop Texas- or Austin-based companies for paying a kid for their NIL.

You can’t, but most businesses aren’t profitable enough to burn marketing dollars on 18 year olds that aren’t very marketable. Outside of a a very committed subset of college football die hards, no one knows who these players are.

This is the dumbest take, since NIL there has been more parity than ever. Before NIL, it was already predominantly 3 teams getting the best recruits (AL, GA, OSU).

Sounds like someone is just salty they don't have the recruit monopoly anymore.

ut let's not act like he thinks Sark and Bevo were on the same plain with Georgia if he was only getting a couple hundred grand more to go to Texas.

He obviously thinks they're on the same plain lol. Why would a kid commit to a school for a couple hundred grand more if they wouldn't be able to maximize his potential? Risk millions in NFL money for a couple 100K in college? Yeah right

lol, you really think money will be the barrier to keeping him if he pans out? If he ends up on the market that means our D-line coach and Sark thinks he will take too long to develop.

. The portal is causing the parity right now. The NIL has only been around for 3 years. I think you’ll see the effects of the richest teams winning every year starting in 2025-26.

3 years of NIL is not causing the team current parity

Lol he wasn’t even being discussed on your board. Just a lump of cash put out in the last 24 hours and you got him. Congrats but damn it’s pretty lame, and if you can’t see the issue then that’s even worse.
I don't know which board you mean, but the ones I browse were definitely talking about him. Of course some people were more confident than others, but ngl I'm a little surprised this one went our way.

Agree, but your own insiders on the UGA On3 board were saying this year was the most UGA has spent on a RC. Y'all very well could have outspent Texas, or at least came very close...

None of them will have a run like Bama is just coming off of, so I don't think this is accurate

lol nobody knows anything about these recruiting classes.

Remember A&M’s #1 2022 recruiting class that Jimbo Fisher had?

Well, about that…

Our NIL fund isn’t aimed at asking small businesses & individual donors to foot the bill for players.

Instead, it’s about developing relationships with brands who think it’s worthwhile for them too. And, it’s worked out well as Bose, Marriott, DoorDash, Dr. Pepper, EA Sports, GNC, American Airlines, Hey Dude, 7-11, Lamborghini, Ralph Lauren & many more have all inked UT athletes to marketing deals.

He enrolls in January. Plenty of time to pack on the muscle. He’ll probably be a rotational guy until mid-season just like Collin Simmons. Simmons is ragdolling SEC tackles now.

Except Sarks staff has proven its ability to develop players. We’re going for double digits drafted again this class.

With NIL, I doubt you will ever see another run like Bama had ever again. Bama really had a choke hold on CFB. With the amount of really good NIL collectives in CFB I think parity is much better.

My point is that brands are likely to stop doing this when they realize consumers don’t actually know who these players are.

The problem with that class is it was done the old fashioned SEC way, not NIL. Even Jimbo himself inadvertently admitted NIL had nothing to do with signing that class. The problems started when some of the people who pledged cash to buy that class either withdrew their support or failed to come up with it in a timely manner.

The brands know this... They don't care because they are alumni who want to see the program succeed.
