quote:He doesn't need to be. His comp by many, including me, has been Jamaal Charles.
It will be a struggle for Berry to get over 200.
Charles was listed at 185 coming out of high school. When he got to the combine, he was weighed at 200lb.
His final year he carried the ball 258 times for over 1600 yards.
Berry at 195 is good enough for the NFL.

Trends & patterns following the development of players from the recruiting stage into the combine for almost 25yrs now. Don’t let it trigger you, just skip over it
Johnathan Franklin 181 to 205 (5'10) 53 career games played at UCLA, 788 carries
Demarco Murray 183 to 213 (6'0) 50 career games Oklahoma, 759 carries
Henry Josey 181 to 195 (5'8) 37 career games at Mizzou, 395 carries
Andre Ellington 170 to 199 (5'9) 49 career games at Clemson, 621 carries
Kenjon Barner 170 to 196 (5'9) 49 career games at Oregon, 582 carries
Bishop Sankey 183 to 209 (5'9.5) 38 career games at Washington, 644 carries
Joseph Randle 180 to 204 (6'0), 39 career games at Oklahoma St, 564 carries
Ameer Abdullah 177 to 205 (5'9), 53 career games at Nebraska, 813 carries
Duke Johnson 175/180 to (5'9) 33 career games at Miami, 526 carries
Listen, i can keep going, but other than Jamaal Charles, I just looked at RBs who played at least one season in college from 2010 to 2013. All of these RBs played in power 5 leagues. Hell, I got at least one RB that played at least one year in every power 5 conference. All these RBs were drafted at 196lbs or more, all these RBs came out of high school weighing 185 or less at 5'9-6'0, and all these RBs had a season with over 223 carries except for Josey who averaged an insane 8.1 ypc season and a 6.7 ypc season.
So don't let my little research of 4 years on pretty well known top backs in college trigger you either. I mean, i did it while being on a phone call and cooking a meal, so...

There are tons and tons of players playing RB, please do not take it as me saying it never ever happens. But also please understand the crux of my point
:can you post their 40 times ?Do we have any 4.35 guys here that kept their speed after gaining 20lbs
There are just a lot of things that matter, such as running style and body composition (height)
Berry is never going have the physical running style, of say ameer Abdullah.
Kenjon barner is actually an interesting comp tho. Was a track guy who was a complimentary back until his final year.
Let’s talk height. Barber Who was behind lamichael James (5’8” 194). The shorter you get from 5’10” the better for these small guys. You present a different sturdiness because your body compresses. Ray rice, 5’8” 199 thick lower body: Maurice jones drew was only 207 but was a tank at 5’7”. Not all small backs are the same.
And Demarco Murray 191lbs as a freshman on Oklahomas roster. Who is also 6’1” lol

This is who I'm excited to see play for LSU:
Caden Durham HUDL JR season
If he can get up to speed with the playbook and RB responsibilities this fall, he and Caleb Jackson would make a great "thunder and lightning" duo.
Same. Durham was underrated by the scouts. Him and Jackson are both home run hitter backs with Durham being smaller and faster.

Durham is the best back they’ve gotten since maybe Guice or fournette huh chalky

quote:the fact that you don't believe he can get to 190 as as a freshman is pretty wierd to me. His weight as of right now is somewhere around 182-185. That's literally 5-7lb difference before he plays his freshman year in a year and 4 months.
And Demarco Murray 191lbs as a freshman on Oklahomas roster. Who is also 6’1” lol
I know you're trying to fit the one inch difference bewteen some of these guys and using freaking thighs to prove your point over maybe a 5 pound difference to fit your agenda, but doesn't that seem like an exercise in futility?
"Oh my God, my 4.35 RB is going to run 4.40". Come on man

Simon was butt-hurt that LSU took the commitment of a 2nd running back… what he can’t get thru his 17 year old brain is…. LSU wants … and STILL wants him…but LSU can’t wait forever while Simon flies around the country on other peoples dime…. Collecting $5000 for each visit.
LSU will continue to recruit him and hopefully he will ultimately realize LSU is the best place for him.

He just very recently weighed 182.
I was reading a thread from March & y’all all thought he was 190-195, and it just wasn’t updated yet. So, like when you say he can just add 5-7…. When?
How you add weight & how big you get as a speed back is important, do you agree or no?

It matters. He’s built like a small WR. His body composition kinda matters

Very interesting that Archbishop Shaw RB Jasper Parker committed to Michigan. He hasn't been talked about much here.
This has to be the deepest RB class ever in Louisiana.
Chad Elzy
James Simon
Tavias Gordon
Nate Sheppard
Harlem Berry
Xavier Ford
Lakedrin Harvey
D'Shaun Ford
J.T. Lindsey
Jalen Noel
I'm surely forgetting some names

Ronald Bellamy hits LA hard for Michigan. Of course, he is a Shaw guy too.

clean, i think they might have 13-15 RBs sign D1 from LA this year.
Ruston Duo looks strong and the kid from Jennings ReJohn Zeno is pretty cold too

Nice catch. I was able to see Zeno play at Cecilia.
Jennings runs an offense, that if they get ahead by two TDSs, it's effectively over.
They send the center out of the huddle to the line, and the offense comes behind where they snap it just before the play clock expires.
ETA Jaylon Coleman (Vandebilt Catholic, Liberty commit) also

I don’t mind Lindsey at all but if it turned Simon off, then yea it doesn’t sit well with me. Cause this is a deep RB class in-state & there was no reason to rush on Lindsey. Now if Simon turned cold & they made a move for Lindsey, fine. He is definitely an LSU caliber athlete I just prefer a few others as runners.
FWIW, On3 just bumped Lindsey. He and Simon are now neck and neck in their rankings.

He’s a “certified snake” because he is working hard recruiting for the program that employs him?

Haven’t you heard? According to Lester’s non biased scientific rankings, there’s 6 RB’s in Louisiana alone better than Lindsey. He’s just an athlete playing RB with no real feel for the position. These On3 people are obviously morons.

My top 7 are all very close. All these guys have legit, p5 offers. These are 7 high level RBs with more emerging. No need to continue to melt about it

You were pretty high on Ford, weren't you?
I like Lindsey and Berry, but I hope we can keep him home.
