Chavis is awesome. But his D's dominate T a&m, oregon and all the other pass happy teams running spreads w running quartbacks
his D's have trouble w power offenses and offenses w decent drop-back passers .
regardless, good luck A&M. the novelty of you being an SEC school will soon wear off (when folks see it may take 15-20 years before you win one SEC championship

I know quite a few aggies and nary a one thought it would be the end of LSU. They "stole" a hell of a good DC and certainly an upgrade of what they had.

it's true that chavis doesn't recruit much but what is not established is that Chavis helped others to recruit defensive talent to LSU and will also do so at A&M. I think he will but time will tell.

Yep...he's been on the Rd a LOT, and got some guys to visit that we weren't in on.

Chavis isn't going to improve ya'll's defense. The effectiveness of Chavis' system goes hand in hand with how much talent he has, he's had some of the most talented college defenses of all time at LSU and he never fricked it up, but he definitely wasn't the reason that the 2011 defense with Peterson, Mathieu, Claiborne, Reid, Barrow, Montgomery, Brockers, and Logan was one of the top in the country. I literally could've coached a unit that deep and talented to a top 5 finish especially considering how little they saw the field with our offense's outrageously high time of possession.
When LSU has been less talented, his success has dropped accordingly. He's not a wizard with the X's and O's, he's the definition of a solid conservative coach that puts his players in a position to not screw up too badly. Good luck with watching how that turns out when he's working with A&M's talentless defense, ya'll are about to be extremely disappointed and I'll make sure to bump this when ya'll don't finish in the top 40 in total defense this year
