Of those 33 three won't qualify academically (Derrick Griffin, Victor Davis, and I believe Huggins). So that's down to 30. And Kohl Stewart might be drafted in the 1st Rd of the MLB draft. He has a decision to make.

We took Justin Manning today, RSJ will commit on Monday, and a Hawaiian LB named Savinaea sometime soon after. We likely sign 1 more best available player after that

I assumed he knew how EE's worked. My bad. Yes, we are signing 8 or 9 early enrollees to backcount to last years class.

And I don't want to start a new thread so I'll say here that in excited about the battle over 2014 DB Tony Brown of Beaumont, TX. He's a beast. He'll decide between A&M and LSU. Watch wherever his sister chooses to go to college for track and that school has a huge leg up

As bad as Texas has been the only thing standing in A&Ms way of cherry picking Houston/South East Texas is LSU.

OU still has a Dallas presence, so we are all 3 up there. Maybe if Arkansas hires a known DFW recruiter they can poke their nose in DFW too.

ETA: I'm not saying Texas is done. But there recruiting will take a big hit. They're trending down and kids know Mack won't be there for their whole career

Where recruiting?

I disagree about Arkansas, I mean its a wait and see, but Coach BB bitched and moaned about Meyer in the B1G, I think he will have to prove something to these kids for a few years before he will be able to pull kids from anywhere.

The Bielema hire was an interesting one. If he wants to survive in the SEC he needs to get assistants to recruit TX very hard for him. Arkansas as a state produces probably 3-5 SEC quality players a year, might as well go head strong into TX. Only way they will survive. I dont see Bielema lasting long if he cant recruit some decent TX kids.

Me and dmb, the florida fan that comes here and posts at times, were talking about this. I just dont think they will be able to get the type of lineman that will succeed in the SEC, we both agreed that Arkansas would have done better with a Malzahn type hire, someone who spreads the ball around. I just dont think they will get the talent on the lines to pound the ball like he did in Wisconsin.

As bad as Texas has been?!
Where is their recruiting taking a hit? You think MACK was the reason recruits went there? Its freaking TEXAS, did you not see the profits that University hauled in? Texas will always be in the mix for the best recruits in texas as long as A&M is whether you like or not.

All they need is one good season to turn sentiment around, isn't that how it works?

A&M last year 7-6. A&M this year 10-2. Seems easy enough in the Big 12 anyways.

Not to mention this year they have every bit as good a class as A&M with still all the best prospects in Texas committed, and they still aren't done like A&M.

Also, they still have stockpiled talent all over that roster on both sides of the ball. When is the recruiting dip supposed to take effect exactly?

A&M is going to have to fight Texas like always, LSU always, and if they want to rise above schools like Texas or LSU, the fastest route is to win every big recruiting battle for the next 3 years and then that talent has to pan out. The likelihood of those scenarios is very slim.

Conclusion: you are still behind and you have several years of work ahead of you just to equal the level of recruiting the LSU, Texas, and OU get from Texas.

You can either believe that or you can just take the "all it takes is a 10 win season route". And with that belief then anybody can become a powerhouse any given year, and then why even label powerhouse programs.

The aggie tall tales continue. I mean shite, these players aren't looking at frickin records all the time, you seem like you follow enough recruiting to know that. Because all this A&M logic of their "Recruiting successes" is almost based purely on their record this season.

The number 1 player is likely to commit to where? OLE MISS? Sheesh.

Yes, but it's not a hard number for all teams. It's based on how many ships you have under the 25 for the previous year and the amount of room you have under the 85 for the previous year. Either number could limit the number of EEs. A&M has it under control.

Bielema constantly got 3 star HUGE OL and turned them into good players. Apparently the factor for him is just recruiting gigantic OLinemen, dont have to be highly rated.

Bill Nagy - 3 star
John Moffitt - 3 star
Gabe Carimi - 3 star
Kevin Zeitler - 3 star

All drafted last 2 years...Bielema got 5 OL drafted the last 2 years and 4/5 guys were 3 stars. Rick Wagner is about to get drafted as well this year and he doesnt even have a recruiting profile...

Bielema seems to turn nobodies into NFL picks on the OL. Wonder if he will find the same kind of big kids though down here.

They did and now it's actually 25, but here's the catch. It only applies to the period between the start of signing date and something like Nov or Dec (I don't feel like looking it up, so I won't). In addition, there is an explicit exception for ships that are applied to the previous year. People aren't cheating. They are following the rules. We could sign up to 29 or so this year if we so choose.

We were granted an exemption due to our prior conference affiliation.

We don't have signing/roster limits.

Out of OU's 5 top Texas targets, A&M took four of them and Texas took the 5th.

FWIW... UGA will take up to 36 this year...
