Bama has had the #1 recruiting class 4 out of last 5 yrs.. the lone class being a top 5. RANKINGS DO matter obviously when it comes to Bama since these classes have produced championships..

LSU fans were laughing at a post I made about Bama being deeper and more talented.. Am I missing something?

If you go only by rankings then yeah Bama has been better. But while rankings are important because it's been proven that to win an NC you need to pull top classes most of the time, they aren't EVERYTHING and are far from an exact science. I would say Bama's talent level is probably slightly better than LSU's but not significant and yeah they were right to laugh at you.

I feel the discrepancy between classes ranked 1 thru about 8 are very small.

Well, we finished higher in the SEC West two years ago, beat you once at your stadium last year, and won the SEC. If our recruiting is subpar, then ole Les must be coaching them up!

There really isn't much difference between a #1 class and a #3 or 4 class. The talent level is probably about the same among all the teams that consistently bring in top 5 classes.

The talent is pretty equal. Both have good DBs. Bama has better LBs. LSU has a better DL.

On offense they both have good OL. They're pretty good in the skill positions. QB is an unknown for LSU.

Both teams have plenty of depth and young talent red shirting or as backups.

I don't think you can call either team deeper and more talented.

This. Differences in style of players recruited are the major differences here.

No, that's why all of CLM's wins are flukes. Odds are fluke #4 is coming up 11/3/12

this. there isn't a big difference in top classes. also Bama has had to out recruit LSU since saban has been at bama because they were way behind in talent. LSU has been choked full of talent since about 03. therefore we didn't need to kill it in every class like bama has done with saban because we already had plenty of talent.

im good with a top 10 class that fills all our needs. if the class isn't filling up needs then its kinda pointless.

Whatever... All of LSU's talent is stocked at RB and DL positions. Only 1 RB can carry the ball at a time and their DEs are only effective on 3rd and longs...

The faith in mettenbrg is only a huge collective prayer by the LSU faithful that hopes he's better than his predecessors..

does that mean Arkansas has more talent than LSUn since they've gone 3-2 against yall the last five years?

That being said LSU didn't have a very good recruiting class this year compared to most. Losing on guys like Collins did hurt a bit.

Why ask if you don't want to hear the answer? We're 3-3 against you the past few years. I'd say we're gonna be just fine.

That was a response to LSU fans being right to laugh... I think after that great SOPH class y'all have leaves, there's gonna be a big drop off in talent there.

butthurt your own fans didnt agree with your position?

those recruiting mags are out to sell subscriptions. thus, they spend more time "evaluating" players from markets in which they sell a lot of mags.

louisiana is #1 in players to the nfl, per capita. lsu gets the majority of the "cream of the crop" from the state.

also, it should be noted that even if the evals were 100% accurate (which of course is impossible) - coaching still has a lot to do with the development of players.

Nah LSU nausea.. I don't get the hype of LSU being #1. But I guess it will make the fall more fun to watch.
