Again, a lateral move to your alma mater makes a ton of sense.

IMO, no it doesn’t. If you’re being wildly successful in a good spot, it’s an unnecessary risk professionally.

Dell McGee is quickly gaining a reputation as a killer recruiter who’s going places, but RB coach at UGA who is also a GA area recruiter for a rising young HC is a pretty advantaged spot, more so than Auburn would be in that specific role.

He’ll be a coordinator or HC within a couple years if he stays.

No he won't, at least not at a big P5 school, he's an elite recruiter not an elite coach. He's basically a new Rodney Garner.

Not really... Only if the outlook at your current program is not as good as your Alma mater, or if the money is significantly better. He'd be better to work himself into an upward opportunity... Either position coach plus director of recruiting (which he may get this year based on his performance) with substantial pay bump or Co-OC for an offensive minded HC where he can get groomed for a HC gig within 4-5 years.

Auburn folks have been bitching about the hardship of recruiting to a non-"state" school for a long time. What about that seems like a better outlook than what UGA is doing right now with Dell currently the number one recruiter in the country and a great outlook for next season as well... Could see him jumping after the 19 class possibly if the right opportunity opened up.

If you read some of the shite on the Auburn board, you would think our current recruiting class is on par with Vanderbilt. You would never know we have a realistic chance of finishing with one of the twio or three highest ranked recruiting classes we have ever had

By every metric except one UGA is a better program than Auburn

What is that metric, national championship appearances and wins this century?

Not a bad comparison but it's not like big time programs were knocking down his door for coordinator jobs.

No but I think McGee will be a popular group of 5 HC candidate for the next few years. He interviewed with Georgia Southern this offseason.

Maybe emotionally, but not professionally in this instance.

Picking arbitrary start dates to compare data sets has to be the dumbest most intellectually dishonest method of comparison. If a most immediate data point is available, consider it. If complete data is available, consider it.

Auburn lost its most recent game to UGA.
Auburn has a losing record to UGA,
Fewer wins than UGA
Fewer SECC than UGA
Has been in and won fewer bowls than UGA
Has the same number of consensus MNC as UGA.

Auburn does have 1 more heisman winner, though UGA has had more all Americans.

The major difference is that one is a poly technical institute in Alabama, the other is The University of Georgia (2x the population, 2.4 times the GDP of AL).

I wouldn’t blame DM if he left for Auburn but I agree that it would be titanically foolish on his part unless it’s substantially more revenue or it’s a promotion....which would entail more money.

Auburn only claims national championships awarded by the AP and coaches poll.

It is remarkable that the rest of the records are that close when you consider bammers controlled the Auburn Board of Trustees and everything about the school from the 1920's through the 1940's, They were deliberately trying to sabotage everything.

Board of Trustees members for public schools in Alabama are nominated by the governor and approved by the legislature. Bammers controlled both branches of government between the 1920's- 1940's, and they were appointing bammers to the Auburn Board of Trustees.

Just check the record book. From the 1920's through the 1940's is by far the worst period in the history of Auburn football. Losing records almost every year

Nearly 4 decades is a pretty substantial period of time.

This should be embarrassing to you, not a point of pride.

It definitely shouldn't be a point of pride when you consider that even the official twitter account of Stanford Football has tweeted out links and information showing Auburn grads actually make more money

Also should be embarrassing when you consider Georgia has less national championships and less recent national championships than Georgia Tech. That is straight hilarious
