Bad news, guys...

LINK

Link above says that Arik Armstead is already enrolled at Cal. If true, I have no clue why we even allowed him to visit, or why he even did visit. It would also mean that he lied about committing on Sunday/Monday, and later enrolling. Again, I don't know if this is true or not. I hope it isn't.

There's probably a legitimate back story here. Really doubt we let him come if he's already enrolled there as a college student.

Same thing I'm thinking...

Seriously makes zero sense. We would not be wasting our time with him if he was really enrolled, I don't think.

BM said as long as he doesn't attend a class he is still fair game. I was thinking that was the rule but didn't want to say it and end up sounding like a dumbass

I don't know the rule, but I thought Kiffen and Orgeron were telling kids that as they packed for USCw and it turned out not to be true.

Maybe he was trying to get a headstart and was doing dual-enrollment... We had that at my high school for seniors, and they could take it to get a jumpstart on college credits instead of taking senior high school classes.

Remember Hart Last year had been accepted and was ready to start classes... bottom line you have to attend ONE day of class... My guess is that he will start at Cal on Monday, but maybe he starts are Auburn on Monday.

Either that or his online class was at Berkeley.

If he is dead set on playing DE I really don't care where he enrolls. If he is open to eventually moving to OT if things don't work out then that's a different story.

I say this not as a Bama fan, but as a recruiting fan in general; he's too demanding.

I know Cal will, but I don't believe Chizik would actually let 1 recruit lead him by his own nose. Not only is he dictating his position, he also wants to play basketball. I'm starting to think 1 year of Armond > 4 years of Arik out of position and worrying about basketball...

It's not uncommon for recruits to want to do these things coming in. Usually once they start going to class and then practice they realize what a commitment football is and forget about the other stuff. As for the position, you just get these guys on campus and things eventually sort out. Seems like I saw something the other day about Callaway being now open to moving to LB, which we all knew would happen eventually, wherever
he went.

I think Armstead is a exception. He has been on record saying he won't consider a school that is recruiting him as a OL/DL, Calloway didn't go that far. He also says he wants to be be the 1st player to play in the NBA and NFL at the same time. Players Bama recruited that expresses interest in basketball, Brian Vogler, Reggie Ragland, and Adrian Hubbard, didn't push it as far as Armstead is.

And as big of a shite storm that his family tried to cause over his brother, I see him sticking to his demands or taking his ball and going home...

I know, but he's also 18. He's good enough that you take a chance on him growing up.

And I wouldn't call it a shite storm over his brother. He just needs to play one healthy season and enter the draft, but couldn't get cleared. It's not like the family was unhappy about playing time or coaching personalities or anything like that.

shite storm may be overstatement, but there were rumors they were willing to get the judicial system involved. I don't know if that would have done anything, but it was out there...
