Do you have Rivals and 247? You got any complaints about Rivals? I was thinking about joining ours and was just wondering

I have both. They are both good, but I'm not renewing my Rivals one because Bryan Matthews is better than JLee, and I like their stories better too. More and more people are joining 247, so they're really picking up steam

A public service announcement put out by Auburn University to its fans.

"Good evening my fellow Auburn family. This is Bo Jackson and I have been asked to bring a message of goodwill to you. We at Auburn think it is great that so many are interested in the recruiting of football players to our program. We appreciate your passion and desire to see Auburn rise to great levels of success.

However, it has come to our attention that many of you may be far too invested in the decision of 17 and 18 year old young men. We ask you to enjoy the recruiting process and be happy for the players who do commit. Coach Gene Chizik wants you all to know the ones who do, are players we fill meet the needs of the team, and meet the standards required to be Auburn men and women.

We ask you to please refrain from sending mean and derogatory messages to them and their families, should they choose to attend another institution. Now to those of you who are on the ledge like TT, Chiz, and many more we say to you turn around and get back to safety. The coaches assure me we will have a fine 2012 class to welcome to Auburn.

One final thought before I end. Frick Bama, Frick that midget, and War Damn Eagle!!!!!"

Such is the result of trying to understand how high schoolers (and other young folk) think.

The word commitment means nothing anymore. Kids are flip flopping right and left. Committed to a school but have a final 3 and will decide for sure on signing day or stuff like that. The selfishness has gotten out of control and Twitter,Facebook,ect.. has caused the attention whoring and overall bullshite to multiply bigtime.

Look at how some schools (*cough**cough**SABAN**cough**MILES**cough**cough*) treat their "commitments".

And you wonder why high school kids don't know the meaning? I'll tell you why... it's the LAST time prior to entering college they have *any* control over what's happening with their football career.

So don't blame the kids or the families... blame the cut-throat coaches.

I dont pity a bunch of morons who built up a website full of complete idiots that are incapable of looking at anything with an open mind. Go read the threads; people are seriously trying to spin Eddie Goldman not being present while our coaches visited as some sort of positive LMFAO. Arik Armstead doesn't have an AU hat the night before he's committing? Oh, he's clearly looking for one because he's going to choose Auburn.

Its like a set of parents who pamper and baby the shite out of their kids and then act surprised when the kid is throwing tantrums and acting spoiled. You cant even bring up the reality that we are clearly not recruiting up to par right now without getting chastised.

Hey guys, look! Yet another whining bitch!

We are sitting at 16 (counting Transfer)
PROBABLE
1) Jordan Moore (Auburn or TCU)
2) Will Adams (Flip from GT)
3) Ricardo Louis
4) Darrin Peterson (Flip from Liberty)

Still in it (sign ????), most low probability, but we get between 0 to 2?
Young (OL)
Diamond (OL)
Darby (DB)
Goldman (DL)
Diggs(WR)
Patterson (WR)
Alexander (LB)
Williams (DL)
-----------------------------
We could get shut out, but I think we get at least 1, which would put us at 21, plus probable another plan B guy and stop at 22.

I think we do a lot better than that. Of the still in it, I would expect 2 and possibly 3. If we get 2, we would be at 22 (assuming all 4 of your probables) and might add 1 "plan B". Signing 3 of those is not out of the question as well.

No flame. Where do you place the blame for the lack of a "title bump"? 100% on coord turn over?

turnover on this staff killed some momentum... the Cam Newton investigation hurt over the summer... plus we got blown out in most big games...

those three factors are hurting, but this will still be a very good class. The offensive talent is going to be fantastic --

big time RR(robinson)
two playmakers with size at WR(williams, louis) plenty of depth on the OL
a raw but physically gifted QB
a ready to start FB(prosch)
two very talented TEs(parks, hutcherson)

Defensively, it's weaker, but our previous two classes have leaned more on defense.

1. Coaching turnover and cam investigation was huge. You think that didn't just kill recruiting?

2. The biggest title bump comes in year 3 anyways.

At no point has this Receuiting cycle been a normal one. That is the biggest reason.

Coordinator turnovers
NCAA investigation -> negative recruiting
Being sandwiched between Bama national titles

Combination of factors.

Even though AU exceeded expectations in terms of wins/losses last year, several of the losses were ugly. Most knowledgable football people could see this coming, but 17-18 year old recruits are not always that bright and often easily influenced by recent events. I think that is the primary reason.

We were looking very good 6 months ago. Top 5 type class with only a couplr of teams above us in average ranking per commit. I do not think the coordinator turnover was a big deal personally. Yeldon was the only recruit we lost.

Bama's play this year may have hurt with Yeldon, coupled with our extremely deep backfield next year and bama's less deep backfield. Yeldon is likely good enough that won't matter, but it could have impacted his decision.

Those are my general thoughts. Primarily a loss of momentum in recruiting as the season wore on and we suffered some ugly blowouts while LSU and Bama were winning big.

On phone. Cant link. Did anyone read the article from Jon Solomon on al.com today about Chizik's first two classes at AU? Basically said that Tubs screwed Chiz bc only 5 of 28 kids from '08 class will play out eligibility at AU.

Then went on to look at Chiz's first two classes. I knew you guys had attrition, but DAMN. 43% of those ywo classes are no longer with program and 40% of the 4 & 5 star kids are gone. Now I have a better understanding for why some are so concerned about this class. It is really needed not just for depth, but quality.

Bright note - an amazing 24 out of 24 from the '11 class qualified & are still with the team.
