Great kid, just humble and nice. He never gets into trouble either. If he went to Bama, I'd still root for him

I'm still trying to figure out how we are gonna fit all these kids into our backfield. Is Gus planning on bringing back the Wishbone, Notre Dame box, or the Triple Option?

Moves our average ranking per player up to 3.75.

The only team in the country with a higher average is FSU now.

Considering we will sign a full class of 25, it is looking pretty certain to be another top 5 class.

A few quotes from Eddie Goldman - who, as someone pointed out, stayed an extra day in Auburn...

quote:

"Auburn is definitely in there," said Goldman, 6-foot-4, 305 pounds. "The visit went great. They showed me a lot of love and I was real appreciative of that.

"Auburn, Alabama and Florida State are my top schools. I like all three of them."

quote:

"I'm not in any hurry," he said. "I have a lot to think about. Auburn gave me a lot to think about this weekend."

quote:

"The coaches are great," said Goldman. "I really liked them. Coach 'Thig' is a cool dude and so are Coach Pelton and Coach Chizik.

"I talked to Coach Chizik for a while and he is a nice head coach who is very respectful. He has big plans for the future and he should because he has a young team."

On the things he likes about Auburn:

quote:

"There are a lot of things," he said. "I like the campus. It's not a big campus, but everything is real close. That's how Auburn is. It's a real tight-knit group.

"I really liked the game and getting to know the players. And I especially liked the togetherness they have and the love they showed me. It's like a family."

So we're recruiting another QB? Pretty sure Jameis Winston was in Auburn for the Iron Bowl and heard we made and in home visit recently.

He was there, but we will not have in-home visits with him. Brian Matthews said our coaches have self-imposed a no contact policy with him, besides if he comes to campus on his own dime.

I have no idea what, but it sounds like something definitely happened

ETA: Just saw Brian backed off and said we may pursue him, but the coaches aren't sure yet. This may get interesting

Auburn stopped recruiting nationally-recognized football and baseball prospect Jaboo Winston and kept assistants Trooper Taylor and Tommy Thigpen off the road for 45 days last year due to self-imposed penalties from two NCAA secondary violations involving Tiger Prowl.

The case stemmed from impermissible contact with Winston at his high school on April 28, 2010, and briefly later that evening in Pelham involving Thigpen and a booster at a fan event.

Winston, a Florida State commitment, is a football and baseball star at Hueytown who has been recruited by those schools. He is widely regarded as one of the nation's best baseball and quarterback prospects.

Didn't know his name was jaboo

Yeah Jaboo is a nickname, and some journalists decided to use it. I've seen it before.

Also, Laura McKeeman from Scout asked him if Auburn has a chance to sign him, since many have said Auburn doesn't have a real shot, and he said "Yes you could say they do".

I have no clue what is going on

Yea, I don't see it happening but if there is an almost perfect fit out there it's Jameis.

I'd take both. I don't know the status of Trotter and Moseley for the future, so we need good competition and depth. JW, IMO, is likely to go baseball too.

I still don't think we get him. This is hypothetical

I read somewhere that Grant has been practicing at DB (no link, take it FWIW). And Dyer and OMac have at most 1 year each left, almost certainly.
So in one year that only leaves us
Mason
Blakely
Yeldon
Robinson
And that's not really that many...

After transferring from bama this would be funny if true, and I hope it is.

I'm still not sure Dyer leaves after his Jr year.

What's the word on Robinson's schoolwork? All I heard early on that he was an academic liability, but haven't heard much sense. I'm sure he and/or Yeldon would redshirt leaving us Dyer, Omac, Mason and Blakely next year. No telling what happens with Grant. He'd make a great return specialist and slot WR, imo.
