He was a liability in the game I watched him play but in fairness he was like 17 years old trying to cover college receivers. He definitely had the physical tools and upside potential.

appears he started every game the past two seasons. I assume that means he was at least serviceable depth, which we need badly

I know nothing about this young man; I’m hoping for good things, obviously!

I do have a question tho.

Where was this same line of inquiry (e.g., “was he any good?”) with regard to the Ags who entered the portal?

My comment isn’t directed at you; rather, it’s simply an observation of the collective process.

Every transfer who leaves A&M was a 5 star all American 12 game starter

Every transfer into A&M is a chump and a complete bust who couldn’t make the 2-deep at their previous school

Everyone knows this

PFF grades there:

2020 - 65.7
2021 - 59.3
2022 - 63.3

So not really, no. He was an average player basically. Got a 88 3-star transfer portal rating at On3 for reference, #12 CB in the portal.

I like the kid and think he has potential to be a star. He struggled with the system at UNC but he has all the tools.

Great pick up and when I saw he entered the pool I posted on our boards I wish UA would go after him.

Seriously…

The portal takeith and the portal giveith. It’s like free agency, every year, for everyone. Other than not knowing who’s on our teams, how can we not love this shite!

Here's the truth:

Tony was terrific as a 17 year old freshman. I personally watched him put on a show against A&M in the OB. UNC fans label him "Benjamin Button" because he steadily got worse and worse as his career progressed.

Always at least 5 yards away from the receiver when his man caught the pass; minimal attempt to even grab him once he caught the ball; and otherwise went out of his way to avoid any type of contact. And...is a cancer in the locker room.

Nobody is sad to see him gone. This isn't sour grapes. I'll be happy to check in with the board next October and see how A&M fans are loving Tony.

Didn’t A&M light his arse up in the bowl game haha. Isn’t he the cb for the last place passing team in the ACC. Yeah he’s legit though haha.

He's not good at all. I'm not sure why a school like A&M would want him after the way he played at Carolina, but maybe Jimbo can work some magic.

Yes he is and your coaches did not want him to enter the portal as he has all the tools. And before you give me some BS from a UNC insider off a board I am neighbors with one of the coaches for UNC.

Oh so you aren’t biased at all. As already been pointed out, he’s pretty average. If he was good he wouldn’t be transferring, he’d be entering the nfl draft

Why because I think he is a good player but your opinion is the gospel so he has to be bad? Or because a UNC fan said he was bad but yet his staff did not want him to transfer like A Anderson for UA?

He was a starter for UNC the past 2 years. A team that just played for their conference championship. I also never said he was great but had all the tools. He reminds me of Tony Brown who had some moments at UA but never was consistent but he still had all the tools like I said.

And BTW GFO.

You’re welcome to your opinion, but doesn’t mean it isn’t a bad one. Everything says he’s not that good of a player. Like the stats, his ranking, the fact he’s been there three years and is transferring and not going to the nfl, or just watching him.

So is everyone on that team really good or something? Or can there be not very good players too?

Eta I’m sure he has all the tools, but at some point players are who they are. usually after starting for 3 years in college people can see that.

Go frick yourself too

We know him from high school and he has a ton of tools and needed CB depth. Players can turn it around under a different staff. Not hard to figure out. I’d love a quality starting CB but not a ton of those available in the portal. Give me the guy with the physical tools and at least a little track record of P5 success. There’s a ton to criticize our staff over but I don’t see the problem with this
