Perfect timing on that article.
Clemson and Georgia are both blessed to have these kids. They both seem to be willing to work, aren't afraid of competition, and neither appears to have the knucklehead gene.
I'm happy with how it worked out.
Agreed. I know we are happy, and Clemson should be, too. Only time will tell who got the better QB...and it might never be settled. We both got good kids and good players.

That's fine but you're wrong. Also, Sean White killed it at The Opening.

Justin Fields and Sean White are light years apart. In every single way, Fields is far superior.
That was his point. He was saying you can't tell just by camp performance, which was my point, too.
Don't get me wrong. I think Fields is legit and will be a great QB. I'm just not willing to call one QB better than the other right now. (Fields and Lawrence)

Justin Fields being a top 1 or 2 player in the country if you take his legs out of the equation.
Nobody will ever know, because you can't take his legs out of the equation. But I also don't believe that Lawrence is that much better than Fields at throwing...if he even is better. Who the better passer is is still to be decided. But there is much more to being a great QB than an arm or the ability to run.

Fields is a better PASSER than Lawrence who finished #1 because Fields was injured.
This very well could be true. Fields didn't drop until he got injured.
Although, I wonder how much that went into it, since they had plenty to go on by that point.

The regular season was basically OVER when Fields got hurt - it was the 2nd to last game of the regular season. Fields missed 1.5 regular season games and a playoff game. The Hay was in the Barn on 2017 high school season.
No other explanation for changing the rankings at that point other than "clicks" or "injury".

That's my guess. That's okay. It gets real now. It'll be hard to keep him off the field. I love Fromm. but Fields has so much talent. We are in a great position.

Kirby has to finesse this situation somewhat. What is best for the program is keeping both these players in Athens, using both of them to the best of their abilities and hopefully having them both be happy while splitting time. Shouldn't be that hard this year but in 2019/2020 seasons this situation could become increasingly difficult.

Considering that is the only competition where they have faced one another, I'm willing to say it. It has nothing to do with their college careers because we just don't know yet. Up to this point though, Fields has been better based on that competition and based on the fact that he was ranked ahead of Lawrence until an injury.
We shall see what happens at the next level. Lawrence may earn the starting job first because Bryant is not all that good.

You're right I wish we had signed Justin Fields. Cam Newton is the greatest college football player we have ever seen with a very good arm. However, if you take his legs out of the equation he would been an average QB. Same thing with Justin Fields. It's not a knock on him as a player it's just the truth.

...But it’s not the Truth - you can’t handle the truth!

Harrison's talent around him was pretty terrible so it will be interesting to see if he will learn to trust his line and receivers and not want to take off running as his first instinct
They had a couple of skill players move in plus the one white receiver (11?) who was pretty dang good. The OL was solid and well coached. Their defense was underwhelming though.

Fields best offer going into his junior year was Mercer
I'm almost 100% sure that he had close to 20 DI offers before his junior year. Or at least that's what his coaches told me going into his junior year. He camped a lot and earned his offers.

Whaaa? Did you watch them when they played anyone decent like Rome or North Cobb?

That was a pretty solid high school oline.

Oh, you mean they struggled against a team with 3 SEC level players on the line and another one with 3 DI level players on the dline. Those two ate up everyone they played for the most part.

Well then I guess you are calling Fields and his dad liars then.
Not my words - straight from the horse’s mouth.
Both Justin & Pablo went to visit UT his sophomore year for a game and Butch’s staff basically ignored him - LOL.

I’m so pissed Gus was too stupid to counter Georgia’s offer for Fields.
Kirby paid him a shite ton to both ensure he was on his side and NOT on Auburn’s side.
Another 3-4 years of Cam Newton in Gus’s offense would’ve been curtains for the UGA program’s championship hopes.

You do remember that his sister is already at UGA, right?

Seems like a good reason to make a long-term career decision potentially affecting tens of millions of dollars in future earnings.

ESPN - Justin Field Unranked to No. 1
Going into Junior year.
In this story it lists 13 Power 5 conference schools that made offers before his Junior Year and hints at another 4-5.
