I hear this and just laugh. What fool thinks an 18 year old superstar who can chose programs that also win national championships and is paying him six figures would just say nah I wanna play for bama for free?

They were paying when it wasnt legal and now that it is...they arent paying?

And thats the 800lb gorilla in the room, its a level playing field now and suddenly the landscape has changed.

And yet they still dominate in recruiting in the new landscape

I don’t think any of us think Bama doesn’t pay NIL

We just refuse to overpay for a player your fav team probably needs more

They believe they didn't have to pay as much because playing for Saban made up the gap.

Just ask them how they're getting all their big basketball stars to come play in Coleman Pissbowl, and in front of a flaccid crowd of morons close to the court, and with a coach that isn't even close to being able to recruit on name alone yet. You'd think the football players would be jealous. But Scam Newton or something.

There was a book about recruiting, that followed Ed Ogeron around when he was at ole miss. Obviously a long frickin time ago.

The big quote that stuck out to me, was something like, "you don't get in trouble for paying players. You get in trouble for winning bidding wars."

Freeze won too many bidding wars.
