But why? If he was truly the lock y'all think he is, why wouldn't he sign in December?

LSU had a bunch of guys who were originally planning on signing in February, too. But the staff got them all to sign early.

We had one of them "locks" last year. We heard all January that he was 100% a lock as long as his position coach was there. He was a lock when I finally put my phone down and went to sleep after midnight on NSD.

Well, this LSU "lock" played in all 13 games, and started 10, for a division rival this year.

There are only 2 other OTs in the top 35 who aren't signed. One of those is ranked 30th and the other one might want to play tight end instead of OT.

I hope y'all can get him, but you gotta think it's going to be a pretty intense battle to get him in the boat. I'm looking forward to seeing how it plays out.

He saw what everyone else saw....Justin abandons the pass and commits too quickly to run....it’s evident in his high school film and in his playing time...I’m sure it will get corrected and he will be a great q.b down the road.

No, sir. The left side of the line was blown up completely and he had to scramble. If he were Aaron Rodgers he might have been able to throw Swift (I think) open 25 yards down the field, but unfortunately they decided to put in a true freshman QB who they decided to give almost zero actual QB reps in 2 months.

That was 100% Kirby and 0% kid.

Main reason I think he's still deciding.

Well, if we are being honest here, I hope we get him. I'm not even sure if we are still recruiting him. (I am guessing we are since we whiffed on Neal)

Every program in the country will be going after Wright especially now after the dust has settled on ESD. Programs now focus on what is left and Wright will be one of the biggest targets out there.

He may not be a lock to UT but everyone around him wants him there it seems. He will be a star no matter where he goes.

In regards to not signing on ESD is he has stated all along he would take all his OVs in January

Agreed. I doubt Alabama will though. I mean, you guys got 3-4 OT's this cycle already didn't you? But yes, just about everybody else will. It will be interesting to see if more recruits wait until the later date in the future to get the added attention.

I might be wrong (I often am) but it seems like we have him slated for January 19th. On the other hand, I could have dreamed it, too.

I feel like we are discussing 2 different topics....I’m not relaying my feelings on fields based off of the botched fake punt...I agree that was a bold move by Kirby...it didn’t work and got blown up I seriously doubt anyone is blaming Fields for that..they shouldn’t be
I must have misread..I thought the poster was talking about Justin Fields performance throughout the season in general...in which case what I stated still holds true and would be in agreement with most... experts included.... sorry for the confusion

“So I just reread everything ...we aren’t discussing 2 different topics..you are ..lol”
So yeah ...no ...Justin Fields is no JAke Fromm at the present...not by a country mile..and I’m a a Justin Fields fan (I’m sure he will be great eventually) but he’s not at the moment and last I checked he practices everyday just like everyone else....I hope your not blaming Kirby for all of Fields shortcomings...:)

Yes I believe I read UT, UGA, and UA he has scheduled OVs with in January. I believe OSU at one time but not sure now with Meyer gone.

Would you guys take another OT? Surely not! You're just being greedy now!

They only have 3 top 10 OTs. It's not like they have 6 or 7.

Top uncommitted recruits in the 2019 class (247Sports | Dec 21)
quote:

4) DARNELL WRIGHT | OT

High school: Huntington (W.V.)

Measurables: 6-6 | 320

247Sports Composite: 5-star (0.9944), No. 10 Overall, No. 1 OT

Evaluation: Carries 315 pounds like it is 285. Aggressive, long and moves well laterally. Strong lower body helps him recover quickly. Has the foot speed and mentality to play left tackle. Has nasty streak. He is athletic, bends well at the knees and is quick. Changes direction well and can combat speed and strength pass rushers. Runs well and gets to second level blocks quickly. Is fluid when he pulls. Competes hard. Needs to improve technique. Powerful initial punch but needs to be more consistent with hand placement. Dips head and gets caught off balance at times. Upper tier Power 5 multi-year starter with first-round potential. – 247Sports National Recruiting Analyst Brian Dohn

NFL Draft projection: Second round

Player comparison: Terron Armstead | OT | New Orleans Saints

247Sports Crystal Ball: Tennessee 88% | Alabama 6% | Ohio State 6%

You mad?

Emery had always talked about signing in February. Even after he committed he said he was going to sign in February but the staff and his dad got him to sign in December.

Starks was going to sign in February, too.
