Now that Saban is no longer doing their research for them?

There's always 100 to 150ish kids that are "combine ready" or close out of HS. Kids with clear NFL measurables.

Outisde of that top group ranks are very dubious.

They're gonna be right about a lot and wrong about a few.

I do notice that they seem to undervalue a lot of talent in Louisiana.

I think you see that in all the states with more than the averge # of listed prospects. 247 only has the top 10 LA prospects 4 or 5 stars but take those 11 through 20 guys and stick them in a state with less talent and they'd be top 5 there and get the 4th star.

and really the stars don't matter that's just an example it just results in kids in texas and georgia and lousiana getting ranked lower nationally than they would be if they were in a state with less talent.

I've been a member here for about 10 years or so. Does it seem like there are more 4 star recruits than there used to be? Or is it just me?

Being a "Blue Chip" 4-5 star was a big deal. Now it seems to be a larger percentage of 4 star kids. Especially in Basketball. But I feel like football has changed also.

That may be true.

Still blows my mind that Justin Jefferson was a 2 star.

So are you saying that Saban DIDN'T have a team full of 5 stars because I've read here for years that he had more talent than anyone. Yall make up your minds.

Only about 200 prospects get scouted for rankings every year.

So every recruit outside the top 200 is just a guess?

How does that make sense?

If you are filling your class with three star athletes, the answer is of course no. They are budding superstars that are misunderstood by analysts and just need to be coached up.

If you are filling you class with 4-5 star athletes, the answer is yes.

Overall the recruit rankings are accurate. The teams that finish at the top of the rankings win the titles.

As far as individual player rankings, I think it depends a little on position. I feel like rankings are most accurate for edge guys, safety’s and offensive tackles. Receivers too for the elite elite guys. You can still find really good 3 star WRs though
