When you said that it wasn't that big in the grande scheme of things, I thought you meant football wasn't that important in the grand scheme of life. That's what my sarcastic oh, but it is was referring to. Yes, LSU will survive without Robinson. Alabama would too. Both recruit at such a high level that it's not the end of the world when you miss out on a top target.

Agreed.
And congrats again. Looks like I'll have to avoid the LSU RB for a while. RanTards gonna Rantard... sigh

Meh, its a good get. And obviously not good for us. But we have some very good o-line coming in too. No single highschool recruit will make or break either team imo.

That's not something rational people do.

He's going to Bama. I don't think that's in question.
It's played out in such a way that there shouldn't be a meltdown unless he does something disrespectful.
But there are idiots that will still meltdown no matter what because the first bit of recruiting news they've read all year is that Robinson picked Bama and they'll want to call for peoples heads.

Oh look a fan from an irrelevant SEC west school.

Yep. I almost feel like the I-20 corridor in North LA is more Bama-friendly anyway. By the same token, I feel like I-10 through south MS, AL, and the FL panhandle are more friendly to LSU.

Before this year, who has Bama gotten along this corridor that was special?

If LSU went into Alabama and landed the #1 player in the country, you'd be pretty damn excited.
Of course I would. Then, you would rightly remind me that Alabama recruits at a high level and that you will be just fine and that one recruit does not make or break programs like Alabama and LSU.
At the end of the day, we are talking about an offensive lineman. He is a great one and one that I would definitely love to see at LSU, no doubt. But, I'm not mad about it or anything.
Why should I be?

Yes, as much as it pains me to say it, congratulations on getting Cam. You got a good one and it is definitely a testimony to Saban's persistence and the success that he has had in Tuscaloosa.
Definitely ready for that guy to retire.

As much as it has been rumored that he was Bama for a long time I didn't really think there would be a melt down from the LSU fan base. This is huge for Alabama regardless of where he is from because he is literally our starting LT next year. Posters on here more familiar with players may know more than me but I can't think of anyone on campus now that should win the job ahead of him outside of Cyrus returning and that's not happening.

LSU is in the same exact situation next year at LT with La'el. He is not coming back and is already being projected as a high draft pick. So, that makes this recruiting victory that much more straight up for Alabama. It isn't like he would have sat on the bench at LSU either.
The good news is that Pocic was projected as a Tackle when we recruited him and was one of the top tackles in the nation. He is too good to keep off the field so he will play at center as a true freshman. There are others as well that can fill the void.
If Cam is the only player that Alabama gets out of Louisiana this year, I will end up being ecstatic, honestly. If you pull Fournette then THAT will be an epic meltdown. LSU wants Hootie Jones badly as well, but we have tons of great DBs.
There will be a meltdown with Robinson to Alabama. But, if Fournette goes? It will be the end of days.

Yeah this is what I was refereeing to. On BR radio everyone is stoked about Pocic. He is apparently the real deal.

Exactly. And, my guess is that he will move over to LT next year and hold that position for at least the next 2 years.
You could make the argument that Pocic at LT next year will be better than Robinson at LT as a true freshman for Alabama simply because of age, experience, and another year in the program. So, it might turn out that we are better off having Pocic play there in 2014 than we would have been if we had gotten Cam and tried to plug in a true freshman.
By, 2015, who knows what will be happening? But, there is no reason to think that Pocic as a junior won't be a stud - at least from what we are all hearing about the guy already.
At any rate, there are so many variables when it comes to offensive line recruiting and manning those positions that I really do believe that LSU will be fine and will continue to compete for titles with or without Robinson.
But, again, congrats to Bama. They won this one.
