I think we will be alright.
Not a good miss, and I hate to not get him, but we are fine in the secondary. He would have been another great player to have.

Well, this is a message board, and disinformation is spread all the time. Truth is both schools would have been just fine without him, especially OSU who has retained their entire NFL draft eligibles.... I never thought it was a done deal to Georgia, about 50/50, with a very slight edge to Georgia. On3 hit it perfectly when they predicted it as OSU having a 46.7 chance of getting Downs.

LongDawg..... I wholeheartedly apologize to you...... You were right and NOT MISLEADING...... One of Ohio State's leading insiders, Jeremy Birmingam, said that Downs and OHIO States coaches met on thursday. After that he went to Athens and had dinner that night with UG's coaches. Then he picked out his apartment. Friday he started the enrollment process to Georgia, but he had not signed. Birmingham said that in his heart Downs didn't like Georgia. OSU's coaches kept swinging but dodn't feel good about things but were in it till the end. They laid out a specific plan for Down's on defense and ST's. Hiring his coach did not get UG over the hump. Finally, Birm said Day took the NIL into his own hand and was not worried about AD Gene Smith's involvement since he was on the way out... Said this was all on Day. There you have it and I have no reason to question this. Again, my heartfelt apology.

I don’t make stuff up. It was as close to a done deal - the deal was closing and OSU stayed in unrelenting pursuit and got him at the end after the initial decision wasn’t in OSUs favor.
It’s what it is and It’s Ohio State won. They got a hella team and got better last night. UGA will be fine.
