Wait. Do injuries count or do they not? They counted in 2021 but they don't in 2023?

I never once complained about injuries but even the team in 2021 was better than our team in 2023. The last years there has been no cohesiveness and the development from recent staff hires has not been there either.

Wait. So Georgia is in trouble and fading because we couldn't do something that Nick Saban never did?

I never said that once. Just stating my opinion that many UGA fans assume preseason the team would 3 peat. Also many have already called what Kirby has done the new dynasty. The 3 peat did not happen and it has yet to be determined whether Kirby can sustain long term to reach a dynasty level or not. Many assumed Dabo would and it did not happen. Assumptions and opinions are just that but many a UGA fan on here like to give their opinion as fact. Not directed at you.

Okay that makes you the 1 exception then. There’s 4-5 Bama fans mentioning injuries anytime that game is brought up.

I really have to ask this question as i keep seeing Alabama fans post this. What is this top secret blueprint that y'all keep talking about? Working hard and amassing talent? It's nto something that has to be shown or learned. It's something that has to be mastered. I mean, are you saying that he showed this top secret blueprint to winning to Kirby Smart but kept it a secret from all the other assistants that worked for him?

No need to twist my words or make up something I did not say to try to get your opinion across. I am not one of these fans that think Kirby had to copy Saban and follow his every move just to be successful.

My point is that Kirby served as an assistant under Saban maybe with the longest tenure. He studied and learned what it took to create a winning culture that one day could be sustainable. Many other assistants who were under Saban tried, why so many were hire due to the hope that they could, but Kirby so far has demonstrated he knows what it takes. He understands the commitment to the process and how to implement it.

No one will ever do what Saban did at UA but Kirby has shown so far he knows what it takes. But if you are naive enough to believe that many successful coaches are not who they are because who they once worked for I guess we will not agree. In the end no reason to reinvent the wheel, just understanding how to keep it rolling forward is why Kirby has been successful in my opinion. Again something his other assistants have yet to do.

UA has had injuries every year to key positions. The issue to the year most complain about was due more to lack of development to a star filled roster. With the talent stockpiled on the roster someone else 9 out of 10 times has been able to step up in years past.

Did the injuries hurt us in that game yes because we lacked the depth from poor development.

Not a dynasty yet. Now, if we were to pull out another title in 2024? That would be a strong case. 3 out of 4?

Yeah. We all have those posters who think their opinions are fact.

Several of them get their information from a bonafide insider that is rarely wrong, and they forget that recruiting is fluid and changes quickly in todays football world. They get his info and because he is right most of the time, they state it as if it is a done deal. In fairness to him, he always cautions how recruiting changes quickly...but they seem to miss that.

Not necessarily from you. I have definitely heard some Alabama fans try to make it like Kirby Smart got some top secret formula that he could only get from Nick Saban.

The formula is to outwork the other guys. that's always been the formula....as a whole. Nobody, and i mean nobody out recruited Alabama at your height.
1. Identify talent.
2. Acquire talent
3. Develop talent.
4. Prepare
5. Win
There is not secret sauce. Saban was just able to put the process on steroids. Yes. Kirby Smart learned that from him.

And this why Kirby is probably the best coach out there now. Nothing in the process gets overlooked.

I realize there is more to it than my simplified post. But, Saban definitely perfected it. I don't ever mean to try to make it sound as if Saban was not special because he was/is. And I am glad he stressed to Kirby the need to always work and work hard. It can burn people out really quick, so it is amazing Saban was able to do it for 17 years. Now that it has become full time with NIL and the portal I don't expect anyone to be able to do it for more than 10 years or so, unless they manage to delegate heavily some of the responsibilities.

Sounds like Gary Downs his father is meeting with OSU today. Guessing bidding war.

Guy is going to get paid, he will be good wherever he lands though. Sucks losing him

it's gonna be UGA. Insider said 99.9% yesterday - raised it to 100.0% today - and yes, he knows about the OSU sit-down.

The thing is we were already recruiting top 3 and sitting at close to elite since 2017. The natties were just a validation that we'd broken through. It's not like UGA came out of left field

Weird, I thought UGA barely paid NIL, or wouldn’t give anyone huge deals out of the portal not to upset the locker room, or whatever other story y’all are telling at the time.

So this offseason y’all got an expensive RB from the portal and now probably a safety.

What a dumb statement. Any team in the top 10 is paying well for NIL. That's the reason why they are in the top 10.

UGA is smart with NIL. We are not going to blow it in all one recruiting class (A&M) and see half the class transfer the following year OR we are not going to blow it on one player.
