To the Bama fans in this thread, picture this for a second.
We all know how much you guys love Bama football. Imagine you were offered a scholly and committed to your favorite team/coach.
A week before you get to sign, you're notified that Saban wants you to grayshirt. You are smart and you know the reason for this request is because Saban found somebody else he'd rather have than you... how would you feel?
Before you answer, remember, you grew up in Alabama and your lifelong dream was to play for Bama, and the coach you've love and admire snatched the rug from under you at the last minute...
Just saying

Like Cam? He didn't even know the proper name of the university
Yes. Neither did Pat Dye when he got hired. He sure did know the name when he won the Heisman.

Also admitted Auburn wasn't where he wanted to be.
Im sure he admitted that in Updyke World.

Are the Felony4 Auburn men?
Sure. As much as Jermery Elders and Jimmy Johns are Bama men. I can play that game also.

Are the HBO4 Auburn men?
Sure. McGlover sure was when he was lying out Brodie "We won the last 3 quarters" Croyle.

Some au folks make me laugh with all their care and concern for the feelings for philon. He will playing ball for an sec team that routinely beats you folks. He will be just fine, I'm sure. He made a great choice.

I'd work my arse off in the gym and show up in January ready to knock some mofos out. Grayshirts happen every year at every university. That's nothing new. You got guys that walk on, get treated like shite, and still show up everyday knowing they're gonna get laid out by some 5* studs. Dude had a free ride waiting on him to play for a school that won 2 NCs in 3 years. I'd be happy as frick with a grayshirt offer.

You ppl need to grow the frick up. Philon has a wonderful opportunity at a premier football program. He might be sad but he'll get glad quick. I have clients that tell me one thing all the time and turn around and do the opposite. Do I cry about it? frick no I move on to the next opportunity. If he wanted to be at Bama so bad all he had to do was wait a few extra months. I'm sure he knew grayshirting was the option but got his hopes up until a couple of surprise guys committed today. I feel for him but he needs to man up and get ready for SEC ball. He'll have 4 opportunities to stick it to Bama.
:golfclap:
I said this in another thread though...His parents and coaches did him no justice today. Glad he is a Hog and hopes he comes to the Hill and play hard as a Razorback.
We got some pretty good players from alabama recently (flowers, Winston and Philon)...all seem an underrated with a ton of talent

Wow...
You have to feel sorry for the kid...
Had a chance to play at both Bama and Auburn, and ended up having to go OOS. He was screwed.

I don't feel sorry for him. He will be playing for a damn good sec west team. He gets a free ride at a top ten program. How the hell can you feel sorry for a kid that has the chance of a lifetime given to him?

You're an a-hole. I feel really bad for any kid who had to make a decision like he made, and I'm proud of him for handling it the way he has. I hope he has an outstanding career.

we tend to get a lot of these kinds of kids, spurned from their home state schools so they play with a chip on their shoulder. Jerico Nelson was a Louisiana kid that didn't get offered by LSU and he had an awesome career with us. Hope this kid is similar.

Bo Jackson grew up a life long Bama fan... shite happens. Mistakes are made.
Philon is an awesome kid. I wish we had the room. He will be one of the best DL's at Arky in a long time. He is also a class kid and will be a leader on and off the field for you.

I can't feel real bad for the kid. You play with fire you have a chance to get burned. He took the chance to dance with the devil and lost. You can't have it both ways. I know he's 18, but I'm sure he has some parents in his life. These kids and parents have to know they can be processed at any time, but they never think they will be the one. In the end he got a full ride. He'll have to live with his decision.

Exactly, he's getting a college education and playing ball in the SEC. What more can you really want? I only wish I had that opportunity to play back when....

Yea, I too wish I had that option as a fall back plan.

"That stupid 25 scholly limit imposed by the SEC empty suits is only going to hurt the athletes. Time for a repeal. RTR !!!"
Saw this gem from a bama fan earlier. Its the SEC's fault, we want a REPEAL

I am a member of the Alabama rivals site, as well s one of the assistant coaches at Vigor and everyone on the oard knew this before today, and some one ask the question what really went on today at Vigor. He said the Alabama came a few weeks back and told Philon the he was going to have to Grey Shirt if he wanted to atend Bama, and if he had other options to go, and when today came Philon was hoping eveything was gonna be different but UA would not accept his letter of intent, because the fully expected him to grey shirt, He as upset but not he is at a top tier SEC program all should be well.

Actually all of the players you mentioned (Dareus, Chapman, Cody, Deadrick, Square) were 4 stars on at least one of the recruiting sites. As a matter of fact Dareus was one of the top DLinemen in the nation per scout. Grade issues dropped him lower than he would have been otherwise on Rivals.
