As much as I love sitting at #1, Bama is still Bama...

And Bama has more room.

Yes. I know. Print the cups on recruiting NCs...etc.

But actually landing the top spot in the composite is a positive for the program going forward. Nobody can deny that.

So, congratulations on the number one class, Gumps. It was a good hard fight to the finish.

Regardless, this is the best class we have seen at Aggy since the early 90s. Prior to last year, the last time we were serious national championship contenders was the early 90s. It all went to shite after 1994. Here's to kick in the curse.

It's not over yet so not sure I get this thread. A&M likely lands at least 2 of the 4 5 Stars they are after (Perkins, S Stewart, Harris, and Matthews). Bama likely adds a bit as well. Both classes are insane and UGA's is strong enough to be #1 in any normal year.

A&M class will be higher rated. Although the quality of player is the same IMO. Will be fun

All have terrific classes but IMO, if you are putting together top 5 classes while addressing your needs, you have the pieces to contend and win a national title. Just need coaching and for players to stay healthy to get you there.

Not having LOIs on Harold, Shemar, Denver or Jacoby is not a good sign.

I bet we land Harold Perkins, but that puts us at 325.55.

Alabama is sitting at 317.23 with a shpt at several big targets like Demoni Jackson and Devon Campbell, and Jacoby Matthews is theirs to lose.

A&M's kryptonite will basically be the fact that they're stuck in the same division as the one team that can't just out-talent.

Also, while Alabama has some head scratchers in regards to losses, A&M has had a lot more based on their talent. The lack of a marquee QB (mostly just because of misses), but even when you had them (like Manziel) you had trouble sealing the deal. With your win over Alabama, this should have been your year in Atlanta but then A&M did... well, A&M things.

Get the right QB, and an offense that takes advantage of this talent, and the annual Alabama/A&M game will end up being a defacto play-in for Atlanta.

Outside shot at Jackson but don’t think we have a chance at the other two unless you know something I haven’t heard . Good classes by both schools regardless

This year, #1-#3 are all within a gnat's arse of each other, and when you consider that the player ratings are literally 100% subjective, it's basically a 3-way tie.

It's not always like that. Some years, the dropoff from #1 to #2 is significant, as well as the dropoff to #3.

Not this year.

AnM might not want to hear it, but this year, it's basically a 3-way tie for #1.

I think you mean Sumlin did Sumlin things.

He lost 6 games with Johnny Manziel on the roster.
He lost 4 games with Kyler Murray on the roster.

This year it was Jimbo things. Preseason top 10 with expectations to compete for the west. One the one game they needed to win but finished 8-4.

Calzada was the problem. He ranked in the bottom 5% of all FBS quarterbacks.

He had one outlier game where he looked pretty good (not elite) and we beat the #1 team in the country.

It’s absolutely on Jimbo that we didn’t have a decent QB as a backup though

If I was going by position groups:

QB: 1) Push between Alabama/A&M 2) UGA
RB: 1) Alabama 2) Georgia 3) A&M
OL: 1)Alabama 2) A&M 3) UGA
WR: 1)Push between Alabama/A&M (A&M has the best WR) 3) UGA

DT/NG: 1) A&M 2) UGA 3) Alabama
DE: 1)A&M (with Stewart) 2) UGA (putting MJJ in this postion group) 3) Alabama
OLB: 1) Bama 2) A&M 3) UGA
ILB: 1) A&M (with Perkins) 2) UGA 3) Alabama
CB: 1) UGA 2) A&M 3) Bama
S: 1)Slight A&M 2) UGA 3) Bama

I think Alabama has the best offensive class. But is third on the defensive side of the ball.

Offense: 1) Alabama 2) A&M 3) UGA
Defense: 1) A&M 2) UGA 3) Alabama

Denver has a ton of CB's to A&M and is likely to announce after the State Championship tomorrow. Perkins is still a battle but A&M still seems to be leading and he was on Insta last night with Taylor and Nolen along with Shemar. Shemar has always said he would announce at the AA game. Jacoby is probably the least likely imo because he is going to give LSU every chance to land him and he is still a Louisiana boy.

Bama has a decent shot at Jackson but is in a real battle with USC and he is living in LA now. Campbell appears to be a heavy Texas lean. Bama is Bama so they can pull off anything but it seems like the emphasis is shifting more to the portal for them.

Outside of flipping Perkins or Harris for Bama which is very unlikely I don't see Bama surpassing A&M.

As I said though, both are ridiculous classes and UGA is right behind. All 3 have over 10 guys from the Top 100 and multiple 5 Stars, UGA could easily end up with the best talent of the 3 when the talent is that close and abundant.

Fundamentally it is the best class ever for A&M and for Bama it is just one of many, same for Georgia. The staggering thing is looking at the gap from 3 to 4

Something else to consider is that UGA is likely to take 5 more in this class. The numbers are far from over. I hope, personally, that OL group that's lagging for UGA gets a boost. That's the position group that annoys me the most in this class.

Edit to Add-
UGA's LB's in this class aren't lighting it up, but... our highest rated recruit overall is supposed to be the next Roquan Smith. If this class brings in one Roquan Smith, I don't care if the other LB's are mediocre. I'll take it. Sold! Bag it, tag it, load it up sir.

This is true.

And it's also true that A&M is likely to finish the year with the highest rated recruiting class ever.

In other words, what we're seeing is a higher concentration of nationwide talent into just three schools than we've ever seen before.

I know they're both longshots, but man if we could somehow manage both Jackson and Campbell...

Crab legs Winston aside, I do believe Jimbo is a very good coach... You guys have pulled in some monster classes as of late... A&M coming to the SEC was HUGE for all parties involved and I actually enjoy visiting College Station... That stadium was ROCKING!!
LOUD as Tiger Stadium but 80% less assholes, and no piss balloons..

That said, I'm looking forward to you guys visiting T-Town... Looking forward to waxing that ace!! Cheers

The wide receiver that intrigues me the most of that group is the lowest-rated one, A&M signee Noah Thomas.

He's 6'5 180. His stats this season over 11 games: 63 catches for 935 yards and 21 TD in only his second season playing football.

There's not a hair's difference between the top five classes ... especially with transfer portal.
