Love the Arky fans defending this...

bottom line is from here on out, Arky offers are worthless... Arky coaches don't keep their word. Period. Doesn't matter if Arky fan's agree or not, it is what it is. If you don't think other HS coaches in the area are going to steer their kids away from Arky (not that any of them were steering them there anyway) because of this incident then you're kidding yourself.

The two kids were in better shape academically today than when the scholly's were offered.

Dumb move, Arky... real dumb.

Not our fault that Louisiana kids are too lazy to make their grades. We can't risk non-qualifier takes.

They keep their word if you have the talent. If not, you get processed just like at any other SEC and just like the real world. So some fatass high school coach is pissed? Who cares? Not like he was pushing Arkansas anyway. He can eat a dick. These coaches overestimate their control over these kids anyway.

We heard this exact quote last year with Blanchard and Skinner, yet at one point we had 6 Louisiana commits in this class.

Yea, we're being blackballed for sure.

Serious question for you hog fans. I can understand you having a no risk policy.

When did this approach happen?
Grades have been posted at DT for a month now, seriously. Isnt it fair to assume your staff knew the grade status immediately?
Why sit on this for a month? Why not cut ties with enough time for the guys to explore other options?
Are you fully convinced the timing of the four commits this weekend were unrelated? I know they may have been "ranked lower" but doesnt their commitments seem to be the trigger for this entire deal?

Fair enough, you can't take risk. Do any other remaining players in your class have any risk? And again, why sit on the information?

After the contact period reopened - January 16th - Michael Smith went by their school to check things out (on the 16th). It's been known for a while that Mosley had no shot of making it. McBride was closer but still can't risk. These things had been known, it was just not public knowledge until few days ago. Much the same happened with Ravian Pierce who won't be getting into the SEC either. Our staff wanted 5 WR commits so they wouldn't just be cutting these two kids free if they didn't have the academic risks. RE- Recruiting rankings, if they were qualified you don't think our coaches would've wanted two kids that came to our camp and earned an offer?

Blame the NCAA's new contact period opening so late if you are really hung up on the whole month thing and how it's changed where coaches can't get out on the road for another week - while recruits lose a potential official visit weekend.

quote:

Why did you offer these kids to begin with? Was attrition a problem that just recently surfaced? Serious q

Because they came to our elite camp in the summer and earned an offer. They had until now to get in a better academic standing and be *fully qualified*. We have to get 26 bodies on campus out of this class. We can't risk losing a scholarship along with no player.

Eddie Lacy is from the same HS. If he could get qualified, ANYBODY could. This HS knows how, but is not being given the chance with these two for some reason. I questioned whether McBride was tough enough or Mosely was big enough for the SEC, but geez, if the Arkansas Staff felt the same way, let em know a little sooner, that's all.

Qualifying for the NCAA is not very hard. These kids had plenty of time to get qualified and they still aren't there. One kid apologized for falling short. He seems like a classy kid and I hope he makes it... sounds like the BR school district failed him.

My apologies - it truly wasn't meant to be an insult. Believe it or not, I'm pulling for both these kids, and it sucks McBride is caught up in this mess.

How many offers does LSU how out for '15 right now? More than 25 perhaps? If you can only take 25 of them, why do you offer more than that?

It is because some of those kids will likely flip or de-commit and open up the process over the next year. If they can get 25 signed LOI's today, I don't believe they would second guess any of it.

The funny thing is discussing qualifying is part of the process that should be addressed while recruiting them, so I'm sure this already had to come up in one of their visits.

I think that question is more suited for a team with 26 commits and still making offers, not one sitting at 19 commits with 6 schollies to go and 3 scholarshipped players lost due to attrition. LSU is trying to get commits from highly coveted recruits. There will always be some in a group of offers that choose to go elsewhere.
