Lsu finishes 6th with an interim staff for well over half the season and BK who had a couple weeks to recruit.

But experts here tell us Kelly will struggle in recruiting.

He went portal heavy. Similar to JUCO transfers, they're nice addition to fill gaps, but I wouldn't build my program around transfers.

I don't think he'll struggle. He's in a talent-rich state with no competition inside the state. 5 of the top 10 kids from LA will sign with LSU every year, regardless of how good the coach or team is because "dey LSU." They're Tigers from birth.

He is notoriously lazy on the recruiting trail from his ND days and would spend more time golfing.

I think he'll be fine recruiting because of the state he's in and the fact that he's right next to Texas, but he's not as good of a recruiter as Miles and Orgeron were.

Bringing in three DBs with a combined 11 years of starting experience at the P5 level is like bringing in JUCOs? NO!!! Added a fourth DB that started the last couple of years on a G5 team that ended both seasons nationally ranked. Fr all american Olineman and a freshman all SEC Dlineman are comparable to JUCOs? NO!!!

LSU had a couple of position groups that had need of immediate help. Help delivered.

Kelly hadnt even had a staff till the end of the recruitng cycle since no one came over from ND staff. I think he did a hell of a job. He has hired probably the best staff LSU has hired in decades minus the 2019 season. Once LSU gets the NIL thing rolling then i would expect LSU/kelly to be top 7 recruiting every year.

Those concerns were laid to rest, for me at least, with the dancing videos. While everyone was laughing at him and saying how cringe they were, what I saw was someone willing to do whatever he has to do to get a recruit. That’s not being lazy

Maybe things got stale for him at ND, who knows, but when anyone brings up CBK being a lazy recruiter, I just show them Ole baw doing the griddy
