The state of Alabama has killer HS talent. Same can be said for Louisiana. Mississippi produces tons of talent for such a small state.

What I miss about Dan Mullen is that he could find those overlooked diamonds, especially in Louisiana. Got some from Bama too. It will be interesting to see how Leach does in those regards.

AL has a ton of 3* type talent that UA/AU wont/cant wait to develop. If a coach has the ability to coach and sell a kid on waiting 2-3 years to play, then there is enough resources to win.

I'm not going to dig for the old article, but here's a list with 9 guys from Mobile that were in the league two years ago (23 since 2000) from a city with 189,000 people.

A few years back, Oxford, AL (population 20k) had the most active NFL roster spots for a public high school per capita in the country. At the time, I think the total enrollment of the school was just under 1000 kids. It's not the case anymore since only one or two are still in the league and it was just an anomaly due to the school being small compared to some of the powerhouse high school teams. It was still a neat fact about my hometown alma mater.

Kwon Alexander, Roc Thomas, Tre Elston, and Bobby McCain all came through within a year or two of each other.

They've got two or three guys that are seniors this year with some SEC offers (Roc Taylor and one of the Fegans kids). Clay Webb was wanted by everyone a couple years ago. It's cool to see them start to put some guys at big D1 schools nowadays when they used to send one guy every 4 or 5 years to D1.

Oxford does a good job of recruiting kids from other high schools in the surrounding area. (Anniston,Lincoln, Munford, etc)

It's ok, but not on Georgia and Florida's level, per capita or whatever. Alot of those players would be 3* against good competition in GA & FL. AL does put out some good athletes though.
