AI played under John Thompson, not JT3.

A State basketball fan would definitely be the authority on this subject.
Pollard is from Mississippi and I have a number of friends who coach basketball here in Mississippi who tell me stuff.

I thought that was his first year at Gtown.
Either way, major basketball fail.

Dont give a shite, just heard stories in general about AI's recruitment and Melo's recruitment and how it is just a Gtown thing in general

No one recruited Iverson. He had to go to alternative school for his senior year after he got out of prison. His mother asked John Thompson to come meet with him and consider giving him a chance.

He's a 5 star and it's SEC basketball recruiting, anytime a mid major power like Thompson III at Gtown is involved, know this, he is one of the sneakiest nastiest men as a HC when it comes to recruiting kids, some of the things to steer Iverson away from football and to try to get Carmelo from going to 'Cuse are some of the most repulsive stories I've ever heard with regards to recruiting, it is repulsive situations when you have a kid this high profile, not just money involvement, that's why Coach Cal and UK have been out for a while, he is strictly a cash cow recruiter as are UK boosters so I don't doubt for 1 minute that there is shady stuff going on and it is why he can't make up his mind, he seems like a very personable kid

ESPN 60 point guard Jaren Sina (Lake Hopatcong, N.J./Gill St. Bernard's School) has continued to raise his level of play thanks to his great work ethic and love for the game.
At 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds, Sina is a very skilled, smart and confident player who competes on every possession. He is also an excellent facilitator and shooter with range past the arc.

Jaren Sina is ranked No. 53 overall in the 2013 class.
"I am a leader on the court, I can get teammates involved, create for myself and make open shots. I have been working on improving my speed and quickness and people have been telling me that they can see the improvement when they watch me play," he said. "I work out four days a week at 5:30 a.m. lifting weights and after school I work on my agility, ballhandling and shooting."
Sina who plays for his dad Mergin, who starred at Seton Hall and Rhode Island, said it is a lot of responsibility being a coach's son but he loves it.
"He puts a lot on me and I am responsible for what happens on the court," Jaren said.
Sina is playing with Team Final in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League and loves the team and competition.
"We have a very talented team. I am really concentrating on getting everyone involved," he said.
Recruiting is going well for the former Alabama commit as well.
"I have a great relationship with coach [Anthony] Grant and his staff but I committed very early and had nothing to compare to so I decided to open up my recruiting," Jaren said. "I still have Alabama on my list."
Other offers for the 3.1 GPA student in addition to the Crimson Tide are Butler, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Memphis, Penn State and Northwestern. He's also drawing strong interest from Villanova, Stanford and Michigan.
"I must be comfortable with the coaches and I have to get to know them through the process," Sina said. "I most likely will sign early but not for sure yet."
I have watched Sina play quite a bit over the last year and I have always admired his passion for the game and confidence as a player. Sina, who is a gym rat, has maintained his skill package and improved physically, which will allow him to keep getting better at a steady pace.

IDK how I feel about this kid Sina honestly. I mean CAG gave him his word and wasnt recruiting any PGs and this kid decommits. Glad he did it early though.

I definitely see him going elsewhere.

i dont fault him for looking around. i'd love to have him because by all accounts he can shoot the lights out. but i'd be happy if we signed anyone at this point. my outlook on tide bball recruiting is bleak lately.

Pretty sure his decommitment was his father's doing.

We'll get him in the end.

I'm preparing for my meltdown over Pollard, but we did sign the number 5 class in the country last year according to rivals. We have no big time natural advantages in basketball recruiting, to be a top five recruiting class type team year to year we'd have to be beyond dirty.
If we miss on Pollard, this year would have to be considered a big failure, but its not like Grant has done a horrible job recruiting up till this point.
We do need to open up the offense though. Blue chippers aren't generally going to want to grind it out on defense and slow it down on offense.
We should be more of a perimeter team this year so hopefully we'll get out and run more.

A meltdown? Naw i doubt it. He good and all but his is a tweener who cant shoot. He is just going to be good defensively and rebounding for someone.

I was being a bit tongue in cheek but we would have signed no one if we missed out on Pollard (and didn't have some out of nowhere signing), that's not good.
How many times have you seen Pollard play? Just wondering, you seem fairly certain about his potential.

He can score off the dribble and he was about a 35% 3pt shooter in HS. I don't understand where you got he can't shoot from. He has a pretty decent shot considering he has never really had to work on it.
