Anybody know anything about AJ Maddox. He is a QB from Mississippi with offers from Penn State and Alabama (but not that many other P5 programs!) who committed to
A&M tonight.

Anybody know anything?

His brother is a 2025 d-line recruit and an absolute stud. They've also said they'll play together.

Not to take anything away from this kid, but that's how a 3* QB from Mississippi ends up with offers from Penn St, Bama, and A&M.

Also, this quote is just fantastic:

They also made it very clear that I am their 24 guy, and just playing for historically two of the greatest offensive minds ever just made it a little to easy.

Anyone that a major coaching staff targets and accepts an offer from this early in the process is usually pretty good regardless of star ranking.

Even if he doesn't pan out as a QB, a lot of high schools just put their best ATH at QB. His HUDL profile shows his 40 time as 4.65, but he looks a lot faster than that on film. I'm sure the staff can find something for him.

I was reading on another board about the kid and someone mentioned that this is a kid that is still pretty raw. Up until this past year, that person said that he didn't get much playing time because there was a multi year started in front of him. So last year was his first year where it was his team and put up pretty good numbers, wasn't careless with the ball and completed a good percentage of his passes. Also read that his coach saw that as the year went on, his confidence kept increasing and they expanded the play book because of that. When I read that I it got me thinking that we got in early on the kid before more tape of him gets out there for folks to see. Be interesting to see what he does next year. While I'm excited to see the Ags get this kid, it doesn't sound like we are only taking one QB this year so I think a lot is yet to be seen

He completed like 65% of his passes in his junior year, his first year as a starter.

That’s impressive because the coach said he was still learning but got far better as the season ended .

He's surrounded with lots of D1 talent on his HS team including his future 5 star 2024 DT Brother. His dad played at Delta State and in the NFL for a few years for the Texans

Not sure if he stays at QB he seems to be a good athlete playing QB right now.
