Sayin is visiting Alabama in two weeks for the Mississippi State game.

What QBs is Bama in on? Wonder where he falls on the list.

Puglisi committed to UGA today.

Here’s a juicy tidbit to add to the story.
Sayin tried to commit to UGA yesterday prior to the Puglisi announcement and was turned down by staff. That comes straight from someone directly involved in UGA recruiting.
ETA: I misunderstood what I was told. It wasn’t yesterday; Sayin tried previously and was told no because of Pug. We have Pug higher on our board due to similar skill sets in our QB room. Sayin is a good player and will be a good college QB. Our staff preferred Pug.

Rusty Mansell’s thread on 247 discusses it, but he does not name the QB out of respect for the player. One of our insiders confirmed with staff that it was Sayin.

I got a problem with this.

No offense, but I find it very difficult to believe they would turn down a commitment from a consensus top 20 player overall and top three quarterback.

That’s what I would think too, but if they truly liked Pug more then maybe they thought accepting Sayin would rub him the wrong way? Not that I agree. Just spitballing. Idk much about Pug. Not many do. But I love what I’ve seen of Sayin.

Pug was higher on our QB board than either Davis or Sayin. Allegedly he was second behind Raiola.
There’s a reason Kirby and Nick both offered Puglisi within the first 10 minutes of his workout in front of their staffs. Also, it’s been bandied about that Pug was a silent at the time Sayin tried to commit, which if true would explain why the Georgia staff said no.
Sayin has a different skill set than the rest of our QB room. That’s part of the reason he’s not committed here. I wonder, but do not know, if NIL is playing a role, as Sayin already has representation since he is from California.
It is also probable that UGA takes a second QB in the class, but it would be a developmental guy. Somebody along the lines of Reece Fountain from Rome would be worth watching for that slot.

Georgia is kicking elite talent to the curb now.

On3 just ranked Puglisi ahead of Sayin in their latest '24 QB rankings.
Their Top 5 in order-
Raiola
Lagway
Puglisi
Sayin
Merklinger
Jadyn Davis is 6th. Merklinger that high baffles me, as I know the kid and his family. Good player, but I'm not seing it myself.

Not really. This only applies to qb because you will never sign two really good ones in the same class and have them stay.

What do u mean by this?

Basically, our staff views Pugs as being more mobile and having a more similar game to Bennett, BVG, and Stockton. We don’t want to change our whole scheme if the starter goes down.

I have no knowledge if this is true or not but NO coach is going to turn away a 5 star QB.
