If it was, it's not on the level of Grayson or Archer. Those two produce a handful of 4* and 5* players every year and every year it seems to always be more trouble than its worth to get them committed and signed.
I live near Buford and its a great High School Program. But for some reason, every player Auburn gets from there flames out before they ever make it to practice.

UGA is in it for the #2 ILB Brandon Smith out of VA. more than people think, Nakobe Dean has stated multiple times he is closest with UGA LB coach Dan Manning. Never count Kirby out from pulling a rabbit out of his hat even if he can't flip OP.

Good get for Auburn.
I wonder if the fans might screw it up (think Tennessee fans reacting on twitter and Florida fans an McElwain ). If Malzahn doesn't at least duplicate last season's success, how bad will the social media campaign against the gus bus get? And would that make some players reconsider with the simple thought that their position coaches may not be there?

I know y'alls AD is new but if there is one thing I have come to feel certain about any AD it's that they will not hesitate to pay absurd buyouts to undeserving coaches if it appeases the right donors in the short-term.

The Auburn fanbase will never be on the same page with Gus Malzahn.
Some, love him. Others, like me, wouldn’t mind seeing him gone.

You do realize that tennessee fans dictated who they would hire after an agreement was made with Schiano?
You realize that Florida boosters fired a head coach who was 2 for 2 in winning the division mid-season?
I know that the contract is there. The contract is only there because Malzahn played Auburn like a fiddle with Arkansas calling. You don't think that a mob rule could overturn things quickly for Gus? Didn't that exact thing happen for Chizik?

Chiz didn't win a single Conf. game and the team quit on him. There is a HUGE difference.

I'm not saying that's what will happen but I am saying that contract extensions don't mean what you apparently think they mean. No coach is safe in this day and age if the right money people are pissed off, regardless of buyout.

Why would you compare Jim McElwain and Butch Jones to Gus Malzahn?
They were awful. Gus Malzahn is at least average.

McElwain also gave Florida the perfect out to avoid paying a buyout. He was toast as soon as he gave them cause; lost all leverage. Highly doubt Gus ever gives Auburn that kind of ammo.

The comparison is the fanbases.
Is Florida a more ravenous fan base than auburn?
Is tennessee a more ravenous fan base than auburn?
You administration is very happy with malzahn (the contract). But how strong will that stance remain if the fan base sours?

The two situations are completely different.

Ummm, yeah. Nobody does batshit crazy like Tennessee, are you new?

For as much complaining as there is about the ncaa and college football, one thing remains... the fanbases dictate what goes on at their universities. The presidents and athletic directors arent stupid.
Pappoe will remain at auburn unless the fanbase screws it up.

Look at your own fan base today. They may have already screwed or up for you.
