Kenyatta is finally starting his own for-profit University and taking all of the Grayson players with him?

I think OP is slated to announce around 6:40pm. Fully expect him to pick Auburn.

I predict Wanya Morris to Tennessee, KWJr to Texas, and not sure on Kevin Harris, who has had a strange recruitment to say the least.

Advanced congrats to all you AU guys. Hell of a pick up and looking like the start of Gus turning around the recruiting problem from the last two cycles.

Last year was Gus's first class that wasn't in the top ten nationally, but I still think we were ranked #12 or so. If that is a "recruiting problem" I will take it.

Didn't mean that as a troll comment in any way. I think many would agree that Auburns last two classes have lacked the elite top end guys. OP fills that void in part. That was my point.

Last year's class lacked an elite offensive guard or tackle, which has me less optimistic than most other Auburn fans. We are going to get crushed in a couple of years if we can't find a couple of elite O line players in this years class, so if we miss on Morris whom everyone expects will sign with Tennessee, then Gus is gonna have to get moving on the offensive line front. Losing Hill to you guys really sent me into a tailspin. I thought for sure he was all AU.

It can be a problem. Top 10 in the country usually gets you 4th in conference. How much do you like being behind Bama, Georgia, and LSU (competent coaching could take advantage one day).

It is the Richt conundrum. Top 10 classes, but behind so many rivals. We never should have been surprised to be the 3rd or 4th best in conference year in and year out (especially the way we recruited in the trenches)

I agree with you. Most AU fans expect Auburn to beat UGA at least every other matchup and to beat Bama every 3rd or 4th year. If we keep getting out-recruited by you guys then that won't happen.

That's generally a true statement about being nationally ranked 10 but 4th in conference, but we werent always behind uga and lsu during our years, so there is more parity than your giving us credit for. Plus, your assuming that recruiting rankings are exactly relative to success. I would say typically the team rankings between 6-15 are pretty equal, since recruiting rankings are subjective and includes a lot of variables. Obviously, you have to be in that group, but we consistently are.

The problem for Auburn though is that last year, there was a REALLY REALLY big gap between the #1 team (UGA) and the rest of the teams, so while being ranked #12 is good, it doesn't even come close to comparing to what UGA had, which looms large in Auburn's future as we will have to play that UGA team with those five star recruits.

A lot of variables can shrink the gap. UGA is recruiting QB at a high level. But generally, only 1 will play any meaningful minutes in a season. And as with Eason, you may often see transfers which eliminate high 4 star / 5 star recruits from the cycle.

Then you get your transfers (possible Gibbs) and injuries. And the next thing you know... the classes can be pretty similar.

Bo Nix and Pickens are elite guys so if we can get OP we are in really good shape. I disagree that AU has been missing elite guys but we have been incredibly inconsistent on numbers. For example, we really needed CBs in the last class and only got one (Tutt) of our top 10 or so targets. On the other hand, WR isn't a huge need for us with our numbers and our style of play and we always somehow get multiple high ranked WRs. UGA and Bama have done a remarkable job filling needs where I feel AU is always seems to miss at a position of need and it gets masked by loading up with highly ranked guys at positions that weren't necessarily a need.

Recruiting rankings are a bit skewed. Chiz always had high ranking classes and we had holes all over the field.
