In all honesty, I hope not. All the recruitment red flags scare the shite out of me with this kid. Time for Sandy Bell (our compliance director, for the uninitiated) to earn her paycheck.

I wouldn't be. He's attended/is attending two of the best private schools in Memphis, so his academics are fine. From all accounts he is very good kid as well.

The issue is more that his handler/guardian has sort of dragged the kid through the mud.

I honestly wouldn't worry about there being any issues.

Check back with me in about 2 years when he's Player of the Year and leading you guys to another Final Four. From all accounts, he is the second most talented player out of the Memphis area ever behind Penny Hardaway.

Seems like this always happens to Memphis with bigs who are blue chippers. Right there up until the end and then the rug gets pulled out.

I'm sorry but ECs is not even close to one of the best private school. Lausanne is a whole other story

Well, it looks like this kid is going to commit to UK with Briscoe.

Don't know what to think….the kids handler better get used to not being able to hang in Lexington.

Doubt this will happen.

ECS isn't anywhere near the best private school in Memphis. And Lausanne pretty much meets kids wherever they are academically, but it ain't MUS.

With that said, all the problems surrounding Skal begin and end with Gerald Hamilton, not Skal himself.

If she is involved the handler probably will not be.

I know Ms Bell…I would not frick with her. With her watching UK, I am not concerned. She will dot the i's and cross the t's.

I could understand calling bullshite if it was one coach, but this is multiple sources all saying the same thing. It's an incredibly shady situation.

FWIW, if Sandy Bell thought there would be any blow back against UK other then him simply not being cleared by the NCAA, then they wouldn't accept his commitment.

Like Enes Kanter, I'm ok if he commits as long as he's not played until he's definitely cleared (and he won't be).

I wouldn't worry much if I were a UK fan. Everything will work out. Whether you believe it or not, Kentucky is NCAA royalty and nothing will happen to them.

You won't have your season stripped retroactively if you try to play this kid. The NCAA has a history of being heavy handed with Memphis, even if little or no evidence of wrong doing exists. Different rules for different schools.

The fact that Cal hasn't backed away from this kid despite all of the dirt should tell you how talented he really is. Cal wants him bad.

If he chooses Memphis I won't be too disappointed. UK does not have to take risks on players like this. We have other options.

Because it's never happened before?

I think the reason he is signing early is because Cal knows that the NCAA, Pat Forde, Jeff Goodman, Jerry Tipton, and every other sportswriter in America will leave no stone unturned. If there is something to find they will find it long before he suits up for UK.
