Still baffles my mind how insanely good athletes can end up being academic casualties. Everyone knows these kids are D1 athletes in 9th grade and they still end up not getting the help they need until the final year of school when it becomes clear the kid has qualifying issues. You know these high schools are doing everything they can to keep these kids passing so they can play.

Agree the school can only do so much though, it all starts at home. Some parents get it some don’t. I feel bad for the kids that have parents that don’t.

It’s not a 50/50 shot.

At the moment you are absolutely right, I meant if he gets to work In the classroom and has a good year, I didn’t word that very well, he will have a 50/50 shot. The coaches seem to think it’s not a lost cause.

You may be absolutely right, but it cracks me up how these message boarders speak in absolutes on kid’s grades like they have his transcripts or something. And like he doesn’t have an entire school year to fix whatever grade issues there may be.

I might be a little surprised if he ever plays football at an SEC school. We'll see.

Probably, but if I’m Mullen I also take him in a heartbeat just for the sake of momentum. Class is in the top 30 now, and other recruits see that there are some elite players in the class.

If Florida ends up thinking he won’t qualify, there’s always the chance he can look elsewhere near the end of his recruitment. As of now, you welcome him with open arms.

They've been recruiting him since Mullen was hired, so this wasn't just a PR move - though it certainly helps there.

Sorry. You phrased it better than I did. I didn’t mean to imply it’s solely a PR move, but that it would definitely help the outlook on the overall class.

Diwun Black has transferred to a High School two hours away from Gainesville.

Our best recruiter will get to come to all home games.

If he really messed up academically in 9th and/or 10th grade, one year isn't enough to turn the ship around.

He has transferred to a HS in Florida (Osceola). Mom is still in Forest so I don't know who he's staying with. Mullen has gotten bold.

Good you don’t get anywhere In this conference by being clean.

How the hell does this kid keep a 97 4* ranking? Here is a guy with academic casualty written all over him and mental/emotional suffering with issues. Not taking a shot at the kid, but typically guys like this plummet in the ratings by now.

I'm telling y'all, Mullen is going to Fulmer this kid in. I'm not sure why you keep doubling and tripling down on this.

We've seen the Eddie Lacy's of this conference get in when the big boys want them in. Mullen is not pissing in the wind here.

Not doubling down till now, but he ain't getting in to Florida. At least not legally. He's a sign and place, at best, but I think he may flip again before it's over with.

Hedge a little harder with your 4 options there.

Still don’t know how you guys are so sure about a kids grades. Because some Ole Miss posters said so? They’re sealed from the public. He has an entire year and summer to get them right if they are low. There’s a reason he’s moving to Florida for his senior year. He’s gonna be fine.
