BOLING, Texas. -- Alabama has added a big piece to its 2018 class in three-star athlete Vernon Jackson.
The Boling (Texas) standout committed to the Crimson Tide on Friday over Texas A&M and TCU.
The Aggies were considered the favorite at one point in Jackson’s recruitment, the Horned Frogs even had his favorite recruiter on staff. However, it was Alabama’s pursuit that won out.
Jackson is recruited by UA running backs coach Burton Burns and defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt.
The Tide began trending for Jackson’s commitment in early June, prior to a multi-day stay in Tuscaloosa in July. In fact, Jackson enjoyed his time so much in Alabama that he extended his trip an extra day.
While the 6-foot-3, 240-pounder plays quarterback for his high school – a position he rushed for more than 2,000 yards and 33 touchdowns last season – it’s linebacker where he projects to at the Capstone. Running back has also been discussed in conversations with Burns.
Jackson is rated the No. 17 athlete and the No. 388 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.
The Crystal Ball read 100 percent to Alabama at the time of his commitment.
Jackson is the eleventh member of the Tide’s 2018 class, bumping the group to No. 24 in the 247Sports Team Rankings.

Pretty good offer lost IMO for a lowly 3 star recruit.

What's the Alabama company line. Are we panicking yet?

There's only one of them.
Slade Bolden is already a 4-star.

247 composite shows Jarrett bell, Vernon Jackson, Slade bolden as high 3 stars. All 3 will be composite 4 stars by end of season

You didn't say anything about Composite.

If you reference anything other than composite I question your judgment

My judgement is fine. Just because a kid isn't a 4-star in the Composite doesn't make him any less a 4-star on a specific service.

he averaged over 13 yards per carry last year with over 2,000 yards rushing..in Houston..kid can probably play a little

Aren't we supposed to pick the service that has our recruit rated the highest?
