Yeah, I did find many of the comments very ironic and self-deluded. Texas boosters have blown out NIL spending massively the last few years to stack a roster, but now the Longhorn line is that NIL is the last thing to be discussed and they only look for team first players. Whatever. There was also the dependable "Moore's family desperately wanted him in Austin but the kid just chased the money" quote. Biggest factor IMO is Ra'Shaad Samples. The guy's dad is Moore's coach at Duncanville.
Everyone can see this was a money thing. Knight is making one last push for a Natty (not trying to be Morbid, just the reality). If it was about development he’d be at tOSU or LSU. It it was about coaching I doubt he’d pick a defensive minded HC (Lanning). Family is much closer to Austin, which could work against Texas. Maybe the kid wanted to spread his wings so he left.
Reminds me a lot of Evan Stewart, he actually said that is one of his role models. Just from that some would conclude it was a money thing. Any Texas fan complaining about money has their head up their arse. We’ve done it for plenty of recruiting battles. While he claims he’s closed down his recruitment, I don’t believe it. But I think Sark is done pursuing him.

Sark has a little Dabo to him. He’s very invested in protecting the culture of the locker room. If you listen to his recent interviews he even criticizes the demographic of recruits whose one and only concern is NIL. Which I think is a bad look to talk about publicly even if that is what you actually believe. Especially since we have a few of those guys scattered around the roster. I think they did the best they could with Moore, but you can’t compensate a freshman the same as some of the day 1 or 2 draft picks Texas has in their room.

quote:Agree. Just my opinion, but I think you will see schools pick years to go heavy in a particular position group. LSU is spending on a qb, ol and much needed dl. In 26 they could spend more of their resources on db's. Wr's and rb's are easier to find. I don't think LSU or Texas needs to fret over Moore.

He will leave a permanent legacy.

You are talking out of your arse. Oregon’s WR coach developed Cooper Kupp, recruited and developed Odunze and McMillan at UW, and just got Franklin in the league. Oregon also has arguably the best qb room in the country right now.

I am not sure how much Tez Johnson and Evan Stewart are getting but it looks like Oregon just did. Of course, I highly doubt the numbers getting thrown around on Moore.

I’m not sure how that will help recruiting but okay.

Kupp spent 1 year with him, not a lot of development happened there lol. 2 years with the UW wrs (not their final 2 at UW). So basically your claiming he “developed” them when he really did a fraction of that. Franklin was drafted in the 4th round. LSU, tOSU and Texas all had a WR in the first round. Oregon hasn’t had a first round WR since 1972. As far as QB room, nobody actually believes that’s the best in the country.

Dude you’re the most level headed Longhorn I’ve ever had conversations with.

There’s a lot of people that believe that. Also, Junior Adams is a stud. That’s all.

PFF has them #2. I like Dante Moore more than Rashada but that’s picking nits.

quote:even billionaires cant continually throw away millions per year. this NIL free for all has a short life span. one of two things is going to happen
Phil Knight is 86. Hopefully Oregon can finally get that Natty before their NIL fund tanks.
1.the big donors enabling it are going to realize its more often than not throwing away money, kids are fickle and recruiting is an extremely imprecise endeavor, and the insance money is going to dry up. i think ohio state for instance is going to struggle again against better teams (because their coaching sucks) and all that money they put into the portal is going to net them nothing. after a few notorious spending sprees dont pan out the craze with moderate
2. something is going to be done at a national level to reign this nonsense in, as it completely destroys all the previous attempts at leveling the field in the sport . efforts are in place to supersede all the patchwork state laws and get a uniform standard

If Oregon makes a deep playoff run, do you think Phil slows down?
The right coach, and boosters will pay up. Phil is paying because he believes in Lanning.

It was two years and by the time Adams left he was a Jerry Rice award winner. FFS spin it all you want. I went and read Adams’ bio. He always has really productive WRs. The year before Kupp, Kaufmann won the Jerry Rice award. He has had his hands on so many good WRs, you’d have to be delusional to excuse it away.
He’s got a stacked room now too. Moore is landing at great destination but you’re too butthurt to admit it. He’s got great coaches, great offense, great qbs, and a program set up to make deep playoff runs.
