I am glad. We are building for 2014 and 1015. They will be fine this year.

How the hell is Westerman not a lock for one of the G spots?

I'm surprised Westerman didn't start. I know these scrimmages aren't always an accurate indicator but I thought he was projected to start at one of the guard spots.

I like Diamond. Kinda confused about Kozan, but I guess he's impressing

Seriously, I'm surprised Kozan is up there.

Asked about Westerman on another site and no response? Keeping with the subject at hand anyone know if Cam Luper will commit to AU?

Agreed, it is really between TCU and aTm right now. Auburn might be in the picture if we whiff on some guys and he gets an offer. Who knows.

This is why I hate when we overhype guys

But I will admit it is odd. Friend of mine has said though that Kozan was one of the quickest guys to get the new offense down and that he is pretty damn physical. I will still be very surprised if he starts.

Who woulda thunk a few years ago Chad Slade would be considered one of the most consistent lineman?

It is about what we expected. KF is the starter. Defense ahead of offense. Oline is young. Positions have not been won, would love to go to Saturdays scrimmage.

Nutshell.... QBs will struggle this year. We will run the ball... a lot. D might be better than I think (fingers crossed).

Nutshell....this was only the 7th practice and only people on the internet expected them to be anything better than still learning new systems. I'd put my money on the coaches saying they improved after the scrimmage Sat, and then they improved some more after the next scrimmage. Then everyone online will be saying how awesome we'll be this year.

As for the O Line, I'm sure they're just trying to get some of those new guys as many reps as possible, just in case. It probably means Kozan and Diamond will be the first two to see action if one of the starters goes down. I really wouldn't read anything in to who the starting OL was for the first scrimmage. For all we know Westerman and Coleman played the rest of the snaps after the first series.

edit - this is exactly what I mean. Everyone was willing to write Holland and the LB's off as being terrible, and then this, take it fwiw of course...

@AUBlog

Jake Holland said he had his best night of the fall. He also said LBs hadn't been good until tonight, so it may be a springboard for them.

And I like the sound of this, although you could take it two different ways...

@AUBlog

Sounds like the D-line did a good with pass rush. Gabe Wright said coaches blew whistles for sacks, and there were 8 or 9 "whistle sacks."

I really am glad to hear this about Blakley. IMO, He has more talent than any back we have and if he gets things right he will show it on the field.

Or maybe our offensive line is just a fricking dumpster fire.
