Don't really know where else to post this, soo...
Whitaker said some pretty :fap:worthy stuff about our defense should year. I can't quote it because it's a premium article from 247, but the phrases "night and day" and "how football is supposed to be played" were used. I'd expect a lot of ridiculous 4th quarters a la 2010.
We're looking at the return of Auburn football.

Makes you wonder how Roof managed to stick around for so long especially given Chiz's background......

AUBURN - In the summer of 2010, Auburn defensive line coach Tracy Rocker looked at the wet-behind-the-ears freshmen and made a prediction. Jeff Whitaker (54) celebates with fellow defensive tackle Kenneth Carter The 2012 season, he told them, would be something special. Tackles Jeff Whitaker and Kenneth Carter and ends Corey Lemonier, Nosa Eguae, Craig Sanders and Justin Delaine listened to every word. So did end Dee Ford, only a year older. "Coach Rocker's biggest deal was our third season," Whitaker said. "He was like 'Your sophomore year is going to be a little bump in the road, but your junior year is going to be 'Wow!' That's the exact word he used for it." Rocker has moved on to the Tennessee Titans. Mike Pelton heads now into his second season as defensive line coach. But Whitaker says nothing has changed "You look around and you have Corey and Dee Ford and Nosa and me and Kenny and Craig," he said. "This could be pretty special. That's why we're working hard." LaDarius Owens later moved from linebacker to join the ends. Then came tackles Gabe Wright, Angelo Blackson and Devaunte Sigler, all of whom played last season as true freshmen. JaBrian Niles, another tackle, was redshirted. Whitaker moved into the starting lineup last season, but he'll b a leaner, more aggressive version of himself in 2012. He's lost some 25 pounds, sitting at 301. He shocked first-year defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder in the spring with his ability to penetrate. "I wouldn't have anticipated he would perform like he has in our defense," VanGorder said at the conclusion of spring practice. I saw a guy that was sort of a line of scrimmage player a year ago. He was able to effectively penetrate and do some things I didn't know he could do." Whitaker said VanGorder's style of defense has energized him and his defensive line teammates. "No disrespect to the old defense, but I like this better," Whitaker said. "You are going to put your hand in the dirt and it's going to be man against man. You are going to have to beat him. This defense goes back to how football is supposed to be played. A defensive lineman has to whip an offensive lineman and go hit the ballcarrier. That's what I like about it. It's very simple. It's an easy concept. With determination and effort, it could take us to a whole different level." Last seasons' freshman, Whitaker said, will be bigger, stronger and smarter. And there will be depth aplenty. "I think it's going to be night and day," Whitaker said. "I've experienced that. Your head's not going a million miles an hour. You kind of know everything, how to play blocks and this and that. You kind of know how to get yourself in the shape you need to be in and the importance of the offseason." Add it together, Whitaker said, and it's potentially big trouble for opposing offensive lines. "That's very good," Whitaker said. "That's big. Not many of them (offensive linemen) rotate. If I'm whipping up on this guy and it's time for me to take a break and a fresh body like Angelo Blackson comes in and whips up on him, by the fourth quarter it is going to be lights out for us. He's not going to want anymore."

Alright guys, TTsTowel is back. I've been pretty busy with school, the boat, and the lake here lately.
To answer a few questions:
1) I like watermelon, but haven't eaten it in over a year.
2) I am 140 pounds.
3) I am losing a step on my quickness to respond when mentioned.
That being said, here's a little recruiting news...
Don't know if it's been posted, but Darrion Hutcherson has to either raise his ACT score or make a B in the summer class he's taking to make it into Auburn. He re-took his ACT, and currently has an A in said summer class. All according to Justin Hoke.

Read earlier where Jayron Kearse decommitted from Miami after previously decommitting from us. On 247, Bryan Matthews stated that the staff will still be in heavy pursuit of Kearse, as he is a top priority. With the pending probation headed Miami's way, what does every think of our chances with Kearse?
For me, it's whatever at this point. I think we'd be OK with some other guys we are after. I guess I'm fine with us taking another committment from him so long as he's actually solid this time.

Would be nice.
But if you get his "commitment", what does that really mean at this point?

I saw where he has a top 4 of: USC, ______ (can't remember which college was listed), Auburn, and Alabama.
He did commit to Auburn before ever even visiting, after all...
It wouldn't bother me if we left him alone.

Kearse will end up at Clemson IMO

I could see this happening. That may be the missing team I had a blank for in the previous post.
I can't see USC taking him, Alabama won't have room, and Auburn is behind Clemson at this point.
Posted on 6/18/12 at 5:10 pm to TTsTowel
I would rather just pass on him at this point.
