Yep, Rettig has been added to the list of Junior Day visitors.

Also, Fairhope WR Nate Andrews is planning to attend if he can find a ride. He's got an offer from FSU, and I expect his recruitment to blow up soon. I've seen him play, he's a great athlete and deep threat

Anyone have a good idea of what #'s we're looking to take by position. I'm assuming we'll only be able to take around 20 again.

My guess:

1-2 QB's
1 RB
2 WR
2-3 OL

3 DT
2 DE
4 LB
3 DB

1 K
1 P

Seems about right. Since we took 2 QBs in last class, dont think we will take 2 again.

I think we will be looking for a FB in this class, since Prosch has only 2 years left and DaDa is useless. Will probably only take 3 LBers.

My guess would be 4 Oline and only 2 DTs. And 3 DEs.

Just a heads up a lot of crap flying around this morning about a few HCs in Ga with ties to AU getting fired in the next week, including Reuben Foster's HC, doesn't make sense to me, but someone on BOL posted it this morning. I'm trying to find out more.

Let me guess... they're going to be replaced with Bama alums?

(also a USC lock if they don't land Browne)

I just received a message from a USC insider. Rettig was going to be USC's QB in this class until he blew his ACL. With limited scholarships USC cant take risk so they have prioritized not only Browne (who you mentioned) but also Cody Thomas (from Texas; who we have also offered) as well. They are trying to string Rettig along as a backup but he does not like the idea of being a fallback and thus he is very likely to look and sign elsewhere. He went on to state that if he's 100% healthy this fall that he'll put up a monster season and shoot up the rankings; and that along with Shane Morris he's got the best arms in the class.

To answer your question; I'd take Rettig and Bateman as well as Cody Thomas over Jeremy Johnson.

I agree with the QB's. We really need to get the right guy if we're only taking one with the ones we've got now, imo.

I can see a FB too. I almost put that on there too, but since I don't think anyone knows what kind of offense we'll run, I wasn't sure if we'd take a true FB or not.

I can see us taking 4 OL, because you can't have enough good OL, but I still think we probably take about 3 interior OL. We're pretty stacked at OT right now with young guys, which is a good thing.

As for the DL, I can see it going either way, but I still think they'd like to get 3 DT's in to really build some depth there. I think having BVG will help us land at least a couple big time DL.

This will really be the class to get us back to 85 with a quality, at least, 2 deep at every position, including ST's.

Metafour? You still post on Fvsports?

Also, I think we'll take

2 QB
1 RB
1 FB
2 WR
2-3 OL

3 DT
3 DE
4 LB
3 DB
1 K
1 P

If we end up taking 25.

we desperately need pass-rushers off the end... losing Williams to USCw really hurt.

We have Lemonier, Ford, and Owens...

Although, Lemonier could probably go PRO after this season if he has another great year. I think Ford was/will be grated a medical redshirt for hurting his back last season, so he'll be a Junior again. I'll have to agree with us needed more.

yeah, I think we're fine for 2012 provided Ford comes back 100%. I'm not sure Owens is gonna be a speed guy off the corner, but we'll see... injuries have held him down as well.

2013 could be scary if Lemonier doesn't come back.

Pass-rushing ends are crucial for success in the 4-3

Wondering if there's any chance at all that Thig/BVG can motivate and make an OLB out of Owens like Roof could not?

You're forgetting KH, who RS'd last year. And JDelanie who will be a RSO in 2012.

And Owens looked good at DE last year before the injury.

He fits LB better in BVG's scheme than Roof's.

two interesting guys who I'm hoping to hear some things about this spring... I know Delaine showed flashes early last year before getting hurt... Harrell is a guy who could come outta no where and play big...

should be fun watching some of these young DLs mature and develop -- sigler, wright, blackson, harrell, Jabrain Niles...

Any chance Delaine makes a move to LB?

absolutely not. He is a pure DE.

I still don't understand how some of you guys think making the switch from DE to LB is so easy, and is just a matter of agility and size.
