Wow... the stupid. It burns

What is stupid about that statement? I saw Malzahn breakdown his O at a coaching clinic in Nashville a few weeks ago. That statement is correct. Gus' pass O is so simple, it is laughable. The main read is the middle read, the short and long were just to clear space.

It's a pretty good philosophy when you have a QB like Cam behind center, and even Frazier in the future. Less turnovers and if the guy is a good enough athlete he will churn up yards anyway.

I saw Cam sit in the pocket making reads more times than I can count when he was playing.

If you think that with Adams, Zachary, Blake, Lutz, and (sometimes) Fannin on the field he was only making ONE read and then taking off, you are truly delusional.

So you think he did not make any first read throws? According to Gus that is the basis of the O. By the time of the SECCG, he was sitting in the pockets making read, because teams were giving him time in the pocket. even said "I was not sure Cam even understood the offense until about week 4."

Probably not. We don't really push for commits on Junior Days. As you've probably noticed the past 2-3 years, we don't really pick up many early commits

quote:

Question: How in the world has Cam Newton adjusted to a complex NFL offense so quickly after playing in Auburn's one-read system?

Answer: Auburn's system wasn't so simple after all.

OK, so that's not the only reason why Newton's starred so quickly. But just listen to Panthers coach Ron Rivera, who explains how perception doesn't always mesh with reality, as part of the team's exhaustive study of the 2010 Heisman Trophy winner.

"What was interesting was that people said he couldn't make this throw or that throw," Rivera said. "We watched every throw, and he made every throw at Auburn. He threw to the flat, he threw the '7' route from the opposite hash, the fade, the post, the out from opposite hash. And the other thing we did was sit down with (Auburn coach Gene) Chizik and (offensive coordinator Gus) Malzahn.

"Gus explained to us the progressions that Cam went through. He explained that Cam was reading three things, then going through his progressions. Then we got Cam on the board, and he took us through them. ... There were so many unfair notions about him."

Well, in your defense, maybe Gus was explaining to you what he had to do with regard to Barrett Trotter, Clint Mosely, and Kiehl Frazier last year.

Auburn has offered Sean Covington out of St. Petersburg. Rivals calls him a kicker. . 247 says he is a punter. Whichever it is, confirms what most of us thought in that we will be taking some kind of kicker in the next class.

From 247:
quote:

Covington is rated a 5-star, the nation’s No. 2 punter and No. 9 kicker by Kohl’s kicking academy.

I'll take him

We have offered:

K Harrison Butker; #2 rated kicker in the class by Kohl's
P Jimmy Hutchinson; #1 rated punter in the class by Kohl's
K/P Sean Covington; #2 rated punter and #9 rated kicker in the class by Kohl's

Not sure yet whether we're looking to take both a kicker and a punter in this class. Butker is probably the top priority out of those guys.
