One of the things that sticks out about Johnson is that even though his throwing motion needs help, he really throws a nice ball. He puts deep balls right over the top of defenders into the WR's arms, he's got nice touch on shorter passes and he throws really well on the run.

Everyone wants a polished QB right off the bat, but the fact of the matter is, it's very rare for a kid to come in and play right away, so let his high school coach work with him this year, and Loeffler work with him his freshman year to really perfect his mechanics, and this kid could be a hell of a QB.

And if you look at pictures of him from just a year ago, he was a rail. He's gained some significant weight in the last year and will continue to do so into his first year or two at Auburn. I think he could be a very similar player to Jason Campbell size and production wise.

No. I think he could have 2-3 years on par with Campbell.

As long as he doesn't get the one-coordinator-every-year treatment like Campbell did....

Yeah, Campbell had a tough road with all the coaching changes he had to deal with. It's very impressive that with all that, he was still good enough to go in the first round.

The sad part part is that the new coordinator every year didn't stop when Campbell left college. That guy has had some awful luck with offensive coordinators.

Some may need to remember or realize that this kid plays for Carver and hasn't had the luxury of playing for a school like Prattville or Hoover that has a full coaching and training staff. When he actually gets some solid coaching and time in a college S&C program he is going to improve a great deal more than most of the other qb's we are looking at that are already close to reaching their full potential.

I think JJ will be very good, we just need to develop our QB's and WR's..

Has Troopah's WR development been a disappointment to this date?

Darvin Adams and Emory Blake have turned out well. We just need guys to store inhaling 90% of the rainforrest and stealing stuff then getting kicked off the team

Blake, Burns, and Adams all developed into pretty good receivers

I also thought Zachary was a great big play receiver.

We NEED Bray, Reed, Coates to develop or next year we are gonna be screwed.

So far his developing is average, recruiting is superb

It's no secret I hate Trooper with the white hot anger of 1,000 suns. That said, I think it's kind of hard to judge him on the WR development considering his WRs have only had good QB play for one of his 3 seasons at AU.

Trooper's development of WRs has taken a major hit due to the fact that AU's highly ranked WRs haven't made it campus or haven't been physically ready to play in the SEC IMO. Jeremy Richardson was a stud in high school, but couldn't make the grades to get into Auburn. The kid from Louisiana, for the life of me I can't think of his name, was way undersized coming out of high school. I don't necessarily like Trooper, but he's not exactly been given proven wideouts to work with.

I think he's done a good job with the WR's so far. Darvin Adams, Emory Blake, Kodi Burns and Terrell Zachary all greatly improved when Trooper arrived.

Richardson is the only WR that comes to mind that fits the bill of not making it on campus. I think we can drop that as an excuse.

As mentioned previously, QB play has been huge. Chris Todd only threw and Zachary and Adams did well for themselves. Adams had another good year under Newton, and Zachary got some touches but there weren't a lot of passing plays.

Receivers were fine last year too. Auburn just couldn't get them the ball. I think Benton has been the only real disappointment so far under TT. Because of his injury, Reed's first year was last year.

I think we'll learn a lot about TT this year if we get production from the QB position.

Sounds like we told Buchanon no or he didn't like the Johnson commitment. We're not in his top 3 and he's no longer visiting for Big Cat.

His top 3 was OM, UF, and UT.
