Before I forget, I had 2 points in saying that:

1) We never know which recruits are going to blow it all up, and which recruits will disappoint and eventually drop in the rankings. Jeremy Johnson turned out not to be as good as advertised, Reuben Foster moved from Georgia to Alabama, etc... Some "top" guys might not end up being the top guys we thought they'd be.

2) Rumors start about who players "favor" and all this other jazz. Some rumors start for good reason, and others start just because an Auburn or Alabama poster wants to other fanbase to sweat. It was rumored that Alabama was the far-away favorite for Earnest Robinson. I had an inside connection at Auburn saying that he favored Auburn more but I was disagreed with. He ended up committing to Auburn early into the process.

Of course, Alabama could land the top 4 guys. You never know.

Three-star quarterback Parker McLeod is nobody's No.2.

Alabama coaches made it clear to the quarterback out of Marietta, Ga., they do not intend him to play second fiddle, when they extended an offer on Friday.

Despite receiving a recent commitment from four-star quarterback Cooper Bateman, UA head coach Nick Saban told McLeod that if he chose to commit to Alabama, he would have every chance to compete for the starting role.

"I have been talking to Coach (Doug) Nussmeier a lot since he came by in the spring," McLeod said. "He really likes my accuracy, footwork and body control."

Alabama coaches are pushing hard to get McLeod on campus so they can evaluate him in person, and the young quarterback will use the opportunity to prove to coaches he is every bit as good as they thought he was.

"If I was to go to Alabama, I'm not just going to lay down and be a backup," McLeod said. "I'm going to go out and compete be a starter."

Oklahoma State appears to be the team to beat in McLeod's recruitment, as the talented quarterback named them alone on top of his list of leaders.

"Oklahoma State is on top right now, it's pretty much just them," McLeod said. "I really like the offense, how they throw the ball a lot. The coaches up there are great."

McLeod, who plays on the same high school team as current Alabama running back commit Tyren Jones, said he wants to play on more of a passing offense at the college level.

Nussmeier talked with the young quarterback and told him Alabama's offense will look the same as it has for the most part, but he does plan to install a little more passing options.

"Passing offenses are a lot of fun to play with," McLeod said. "We run the ball a lot in high school, so it would be kind of fun to get a chance to throw it around."

McLeod said he has yet to talk to Jones about Alabama, but he is sure the running back will be in his ear trying to get him to join forces again in the college level. While he said he would listen to his former teammate, McLeod said ultimately, it will be his decision.

McLeod said he plans to be in Tuscaloosa next week to participate in one of Alabama's summer camps. He also plans to visit Oklahoma State in the near future.

Staff putting in work...

quote:

Charlotte (N.C.) Vance outside linebacker Larenz Bryant has seen his stock rise steadily throughout the spring, first running a 4.43 40-yard dash at a Shrine Bowl combine, and being invited to the Opening as a result of his performance.

That rise continued to manifest itself earlier this week, when the 6-foot-1, 210-pounder received an offer from the defending national champions.

“It was exciting to call Coach Saban and get the offer,” said Bryant. “He said I’m a good athlete and talked about how they might convert me to a safety. He was just telling me to stay focused and finish the school year strong. Coach Rumph is a real good guy, too- he’s real cool.

“As a program, they’re the best in the nation. That’s where everyone wants to go. I don’t really know much about them school-wise.”

A number of schools have been in to see Bryant, who says he’s heard most from Virginia and Alabama as of late.

“Virginia, South Carolina, Florida, LSU, North Carolina, Clemson and schools like that have came to watch the team. My top group changes about every week.

“Alabama sends me something in the mail every day. Probably Virginia is (recruiting the hardest). They’ve been by a few times. That’s a good school to go to. They have a good communications program and that’s my major.”

South Carolina is another program that figures to be a factor with Bryant moving forward, as he was born near Charleston and grew up a Gamecock fan.

“With South Carolina, I’m from there. I went to a lot of games when I was young.”

The four-star linebacker is unsure of his summer visit schedule and maintains his recruitment will stretch into the season as he plans to take official visits during the fall.

"I’ll probably go to a couple one day camps and some seven-on-seven tournaments with my team, but I’m not sure yet. I’m planning on taking my official visits during the football season. I’m not sure which schools I’m going to take them to yet. I’m looking for good people around me and a good defensive program.”

Bryant starred on both sides of the ball for Vance as a junior totaling 154 tackles, 23 TFL, 7 sacks, and 4 interceptions (3 for touchdowns) on defense, while also rushing for 1,423 yards and 22 touchdowns.

How many guys in the Rivals Top 10 do you think we get? I'm almost certain we'll get Robert, and I'm sure Foster is gonna stay with us.

In the current Top 10 on Rivals, just those 2 probably. But the Top 10 is sure to change some

3 maybe 4 if Matthew Thomas moves up into the top 10, I expect Tenpenny to be top 10 by the time it's over

We might get 4 of the 247 top 10. They have Allen evaluated a lot more favorably than the other services.

247 > Rivals

And that isn't just because they like some of our commits better. I think most people would agree that 247 does a better job.

What has Tenpenny done to make you think this? A high SPARQ score? Rivals would put a RB in the top 10 stricly based on a SPARQ. They are CLUELESS at assessing RBs as they base it on camps, combines, and track times. RBs need to be evaluated on the football field in pads.

I don't see it. Tenpenny is really good, but I don't see him as Top 10 overall good

A lot of Bama fans are going to be surprised as to which 2013 RB commit is the better player (at least those that go by rankings instead of evaluating film and level of competition).....and it will be by an appreciable margin IMO as Tyren Jones plays superior competition and he has better production and if you watch film he is the better "RB". At 5'9", 205 he is currently close to the same size as Ingram was at Bama but with more burst and wiggle. Jones will likely be 215-220 by Fall 2013 as a freshmen.

Georgia large class had 12 different teams in the Rivals 100 at some point in 2011 and 4 that finished in the Final Top 50 and Jones had the 2nd best all-time season by a RB in the class and is posed to break the large class all-time rushing and TD record this season. Major difference in competition between Georgia large class and Arkansas.

Tyren Jones Big Plays

Interesting. I'm feeling a "shock the world" moment where he puts Bama, UTk, and Cocks hats on the table and pulls a UGA hat out of a hidden spot.

I haven't been following the entire recruitment of everybody, just Nkemdiche and a few others, what's our status with Vernon Hargreaves III? Apparently USF if his top school right now, but are we heavily pursuing him? I wouldn't wanna just go after everyone in the Top 10, but his highlights look pretty good.

My 1st thought is that he's trollin...

But upon further review, whats up with these guys that had an in-state team leading all of a sudden supposedly dropping that in-state team out of the top 3?

Just this week, M Thomas, D Walker, now Langley have basically done just that. Weird stuff, but good news for the good guys regarding those three...
