Kwon may be faster, but I think Thomas is a better overall athlete.
Probably so, Kwon was never playing anywhere but LB, unless LSU somehow turns him into another Mingo. How he was used limited some growth as a player, and it showed when he was asked to flash athleticism. He is great going towards the QB with his speed and closing speed, but it was his problems when running away from the QB.
He was basically an undersized DE asked to do everything as a LB during camps...

Does anyone have an info on Ultric Jones from Oxford? Maggie?
I know he grew up an Auburn fan but that's about it. I don't know if Auburn would even take him considering we have Liner, Lawson, and are in very good shape for Monty Adams.

You should grab him. Lawson needs someone to stay committed with him once Adams lets you down and Liner flips.

Jones will end up out of state. Bama won't take him and AU will be done with DL recruiting if we get Adams

He's still all potential right now. Practices really well, just not enough "wow" from his Junior tape. He flashes some, but he's like a poor man's LaMicheal Fanning. Looks great, but doesn't always dominate.
I think his Senior year will define his offer list. He could blow up, as he feels this is this best preseason of his life. I'm surprised he hasn't gotten more looks at TE or OT, considering his size and basketball background.

John Jenkins shared his thumb with Monty on his last visit during team mandated nap time. Monty digs that bout the DL

University of Alabama assistant coach Jeff Stoutland made the trip up to Staten Island, N.Y., recently to check in with three-star athlete Augustus Edwards. Although Edwards is considered a running back by most schools, UA sees the 6-foot-1, 222-pound back at multiple positions at the college level.
"They are considering where they want me at," Edwards said. "They like me at running back, linebacker and defensive back."
Edwards prefers to play running back at the next level, but said he would not object to playing other positions if coaches asked him to.
Although he is still in the early stages of the recruiting process so far with Alabama, Edwards likes what he sees so far from both the people and the program at UA.
"It is a good program, I know that," Edwards said. "They have a great coaching staff, and they are competitive. They've just got a great program down there."
The talented back currently holds 11 offers, but he does not yet have an offer from Alabama. Despite the lack of offer, Edwards is confident he will be able to impress Alabama coaches this summer if he is able to make one of UA's summer camps.
"I think someday I will," Edwards said. "Coach Stoutland is coming back and forth now and he invited me to camp the other day and really wants me to visit."
A native of New York, Edwards said he is often overlooked by schools, or deemed overrated due to the lack of recruits who come from the area. The lack of respect only motivates the back, who said he was out to prove to the nation what he can do on the field.
"I think they can't help it," Edwards said. "I think they look at what I'm doing here and look what a kid in Georgia is doing, they will pick the kid from Georgia because there is better competition over there.
Although Alabama is far from his home, Edwards said he is not concerned with playing far from home.
"I don't think playing far away will be a factor at all to me," Edwards said. "It's really just what school fits me best, that is what really matters to me."
the 2nd time I've seen a NY/NJ recruit go into a rant about the area being overlooked.

Question: Are we going to lose Reuben Foster? Rumors are flying around after the interview the other day?
Greg Ostendorf: Personally, I don’t think Foster is going anywhere. In the video interview you’re talking about, he says there’s a chance he could flip and talks about how he could reach the NFL no matter what school he chooses. Obviously, with Foster transferring to Auburn (Ala.) High School recently, there’s been speculation that he’ll flip to Auburn. Before that, he was going to flip to Georgia. When it comes down to it, Alabama is the best fit for him and what he can do on defense. He’s not great playing in space, but in the Tide’s defense, he wouldn’t have to be exposed to that like he would in a more traditional 4-3 defense. I expect him to be used in a similar capacity to how Dont’a Hightower was used, and to me, that’s perfect for what Foster gives you on defense. He’s going to play the recruiting game and take all of his official visits, but ultimately, I think he signs with Alabama.

Damn I hope we land Robert Foster. That would be one hell of a steal.

DALLAS – Recruiting just got serious for Nick Watkins.
Watkins already has three SEC offers to his name with more expected to follow.
How serious?
The 6-foot, 180-pound four-star cornerback from Dallas Bishop Dunne recently made his way into the Top247 for 2014 at No. 36 overall. Even more than where he's ranked is who he's been in contact with, contact that included a phone conversation with Alabama head coach Nick Saban on Monday afternoon.
“Not everybody gets to talk on the phone to a national championship head coach,” Watkins said. “He just coaches the national champions, he knows defensive backs, he's got rings – it was surreal talking with him.”
Alabama, Arkansas and Texas A&M are among the schools to have offered Watkins to this point with Texas showing a heavy amount of interest. Watkins is already lining up summer camp plans with Austin, Fayetteville and Tuscaloosa already on the travel itinerary.
While he admits the attention is nice, Watkins didn't expect things to be hot and heavy like they are with some of the nation's top programs before he'd completed his sophomore year of high school.
“I had faith in my abilities, but I didn't think it would happen this early,” Watkins said. “It's been great.”
Watkins said Alabama is currently atop his list of favorite schools. It's rare that the Crimson Tide dip into Texas this early for a prospect, but Watkins said the Alabama staff has done a good job of selling the program.
“I like how they play their young guys,” Watkins said. “They play a lot of defensive backs, so you can get playing time early.”
Watkins, who is the son of former NFL defensive back Bobby Watkins, has a degree of familiarity with the Arkansas program after going with his older brother on a recruiting visit there a few years ago. The Razorbacks were one of the first schools to offer Watkins and he's looking forward to making a return trip to Fayetteville.
“I know the campus is nice from what I remember,” Watkins said. “I want to take my own visit up there.”
Texas A&M has 2013 offensive line commit Ishmael Wilson at Bishop Dunne, and the Aggies have made an early impression on Watkins.
“It's close to home,” Watkins said. “They're going to the SEC, which is the best conference in the country.”
The school to keep an eye on in Watkins' recruitment will be Texas – his childhood favorite. Watkins was invited to the Longhorns spring game but was unable to attend.
He's looking forward to seeing Texas up close and personal when he camps there next month.
“Mack Brown is a great head coach,” Watkins said. “They're a winning program. I watched Colt McCoy win a lot of games. I watched Vince Young win a national championship. I've watched Texas win a lot of games.”
The schools mentioned are all sitting in a solid position to land arguably the top cover corner in the 2014 class nationally. One school Watkins wants to hear more from is reigning Pac-12 champion Oregon.
“I've been wanting to talk with Oregon,” Watkins said. “They've told my coaches they'll start recruiting me Sept. 1, so I'm looking forward to that.”
Watkins said he's looking at making a decision next spring on where he'll attend school. When he picks his destination, he's hoping that school can provide exactly what he's looking for among what will be a slew of suitors.
“I want a chance to compete and get on the field,” Watkins said. “A good student body and a place where I can get my education. The education is what's most important to me.”
