Looks to me like Saban has made a few subtle shits. Stoutland is getting very little talk as a recruiter / is he expected to be gone after this year? Recruiter focus has shifted to Pruit/Groh/Thompson/Nuss/Rumph with Smart getting a little less chatter.
My guess is Saban and company are now working heavy toward Bateman's team and have AJ's team pretty well set.

My guess is they're probably keeping him a short leash when it comes to recruiting until the NCAA issues its findings and penalties for the UM/Shaprio stuff.

I think Stoutland is used in specific locations, like South Florida and up in the NY/NJ area. He has ties to both, so it makes sense.
Pruitt, Groh, and Thompson are always gonna be some of the lead dogs, that's a big reason they were brought in for. It's good to see Nuss being talked up though, McElwain wasn't much of a "name" and very inconsistent recruiter. It could have just been what was put on his plate yearly, but sometimes he'd walk away with no commits or no prospects, then like in 2011 class, he picks up 4-5 star recruits.
Rumph is gonna have to be the new face of Alabama football for the state of Georgia pretty soon, unless it's true Smart plans on sticking it out until Saban retires. Rumph also has the obvious ties to the Carolinas, which always seems to produce talent. Just like the DC area recently, except I don't know who is the lead man there now with Sal gone...

Have y'all heard something that I haven't? Where is all the optimism coming from regarding Smart staying as DC for another 5-7 years?

Cooper Bateman is one of the top quarterback options left on the board for college coaches. The 6-foot-3, 195-pound four-star has burst onto the scene in a big way and now has offers from around the nation.
Bateman could have a decision in the next few weeks.
The nation's No. 48 overall player has remained mum on his college recruitment for the most part, but gave a slight indication who he's seriously considering at this point.
According to Bateman, LSU, Alabama, Florida, Auburn and Washington are the five programs he's most seriously considering. The news is slightly amplified, given the fact Bateman is getting closer and closer to a decision.
"I want to decide pretty soon if possible," Bateman said. "There is no clear school on top for me right now, but I'm looking at those five programs. I'm weighing the pros and cons of each school and evaluating the football aspect and comfort level of each program."
Two weeks ago Bateman spent four days in Florida with his mother and father. The family spent two days specifically on campus and enjoyed two days of vacation time.
Prior to his time in Gainesville, Bateman visited Alabama with his mother.
"I'll be going back to Alabama either the first or second weekend of June," he said. "My dad was not with us when we went the first time and he needs to see it for himself. My coach is also going on that trip too. After that I'm going to the Elite-11 in California. I'm going to leave a day early so we can stop at Cal and check them out. Hopefully I can decide soon after that Bama trip or Elite-11."
Bateman would not give anything away when asked about which coaching staff he's closest to.
"Coach (Scot) Loeffler at Auburn is great, Nuss (Doug Nussmeier- Alabama OC) is someone I like a lot too. I'm very comfortable with (Brent) Pease at Florida, we've known each other for a long time. Coach (Steve) Kragthorpe at LSU calls me a lot and so does coach (Tosh) Lupoi and Steve Sarkisian from Washington. They are all great coaches and I'm close with all of them. This decision is going to be really tough."
With Spring practice under way, the four-star gun-slinger said he has been working on shortening his release and fine-tuning his mechanics.

I like our chances a little less after reading that actually.

Why is that?
I actually think it's good news for us. He wants his father to come to Tuscaloosa next month before making a decision. His entire family has been to Florida, so if they were the choice we would probably know by now.
It appears to me that Cooper likes Alabama the most, but is waiting on dad to visit (and get his blessing) before pulling the trigger.

Also, 24/7 has a video update on Nkemdiche.
Barton Simmons says Bama is the leader with Ole Miss the darkhorse due to his brother.

Knee-jerk reaction I guess.
I would preferred he said something like, "OMG it's the Alabama and Nick Saban OMG!!!!11!!!1!!!1"
