Four-Star Alabama committed running back Tyren Jones traveled across the country from Marietta, Ga. over weekend. Jones and his teammates from throughout the state of Georgia were in Los Angeles participating in numerous 7 on 7 tournaments. Scout.com had a chance to catch up with Jones and talk California, competition, and his Crimson Tide commitment.
fricking beast.

The weekend started off pretty relaxed for Tyren Jones (5’9”/199) and the rest of his Georgia teammates.
“Yesterday we went to the Santa Monica pier, the beach, went to a couple shops, and seen a little scenery,” Said Jones.
When asked if California was a little different compared to the Peach State, Jones responded, “ Yeah, oh yeah.”
After Friday though, it was time to start competing.
On Saturday afternoon, team Georgia, which includes, among the notables, Brendan Langley, Keyante Green and Evan Engram, played the best of five 7 on 7 games against the 1925 All-Stars of California at Oaks Christian High School. The weekend finally concluded Sunday facing off against various teams across Southern California at UCLA’s 7 on 7 tournament.
“It’s pretty good competition out here to do work against,” he said.
Although Jones will play running back at the next level for Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide, that didn’t stop him from continuing to hone his skills outside of the backfield. Jones often lined up in the slot or out wide many times during each game of 7 on 7.
“I just go wide receiver because I get more action out there,” he said. “It helps to work on my hands and do work against some of the DB’s.”
“I’m an all-purpose back. I can run, catch and block. I’m just trying to make everything better,” he added.
While Jones has been committed to Alabama since February, he reiterated the reasons why he chose the Tide.
“It just fits me as a runner and what I do,” he said. “I’m trying to go to the next level and that’s what they do best, put their running backs out there. Everything just came into place.”
Over the past two years, former Alabama running backs Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson were both selected in the first round of the NFL draft. While Jones may share the same dream as Ingram and Richardson, he recognizes it won’t come easy and is aware of Alabama’s hard work ethic.
“It’s just a lot of hard work. They actually work, probably harder than any other school.”
Hard work is something Jones is familiar with. The rest of his summer plans include working out with his Walton high school team and his dad.
“I’m trying to be great,” he said.
As a junior Jones rushed for 2,400 yards and 33 touchdowns and also accumulated 300 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
fricking beast.

Wow. Foster and in the past Howard are fair game, but it gets touchy when Liner or Lawson are mentioned.

TT's sphincter starts to spasm when thoughts of Aubie recruits flipping brings back memories of the Alabama staff going in dry on his tigles with CyKo, Calloway and Yeldon. Then when he notices the links between Lawson and UTk and the one not getting alot of play yet between LT of Alabama and Lawson's dad the quiver gets worse. Each time Liner tries to slip quietly into Tuscaloosa to enjoy some time on campus the poor boy begins to leak.
Best to just leave him alone before he blows up all over this place and we leave you with the task of cleaning up after him.

Always knew that Lawson was a beast on the field and at camps no matter what any AU fan said

Liner and Lawson are very real possibilities for both Bama and USC. Liner is very soft at this point despite any interview he's done......still believe out of Lawson/Liner/Adams that AU lands 1 of them max.
